I spend 2 days in Taiyuan, the most interesting thing is to visit Shuangta Temple, traditional architecture are are amazing... the highlight is climbing the bigger temple and take a photo of the small temple.

Ancient monument in otherwise industrial town. Lovely peaceful place. You can climb the pagodas for a stunning view, smog permitting. Otherwise walk the grounds and visit the temple on the lower level..

Nice to have quieter tourist spot. Our young friends enjoyed the pagoda climb and we got to the top eventually. Good change up from the normal tourist circuit in the area.

We arrived late in the day and there was a bit of a revolt on the bus with some people wanting to miss it. Our tour guide ignored them and we were glad she did, it's in a lovely setting, very peaceful.

Lovely old stone pagodas and nice gardens. Very photogenic. Slightly out of the main town and off the beaten track but worth the short journey. Make your taxi driver wait for you if you can make yourself understood as you may not otherwise get back...More
