Visited with friends enjoyed the visit. But the Department of Museums can do more to make the place more attractive. Shuttle buses can also be arranged from Gweru City. The place can also be advertised in some of the lodges in Gweru

This was very interesting however I would do some reading before you go here as the guide doesn't cover much. I spoke with a lady a few days before coming here who told me other ideas and stories about the ruins. I wouldn't have found it half as interesting had she not have told me. When i asked the guide about it, he didn't know much English other than what he was meant to say about the ruins so it was difficult to get the answers I was after. This being said, it certainly is worth coming and having a look at!

Danamombe is one of the "Big Four" pre-colonial ruins of Zimbabwe, ranking along with Great Zimbabwe, Khami and Nalatele. It is thought to be the eighteenth-century capital of the region- the last capital before the Zulu incursions and the expansion of colonial empires destroyed the balance of power on the Zimbabwean plateau.

Today the site is seldom explored and rather remote. It is hard to get here without your own transport, as it is situated 35 kms off the main road. If you make the effort, you will be rewarded with beautiful stone walling, some of it featuring traditional Rowzi motifs. This was clearly a major pre-colonial centre, though the commoners' mud-brick dwellings no longer remain.
