Very informative and we loved going on the replica of the original carvel that made the voyage from Portugal to Mosselbay in 1988. The museum could do with a bit a fresh revamp as you can see that some of the displays are in need...More

Our family visited the museum complex recently. Positives: * The caravel remains a great sight to visit. * The Portuguese portraits and history. Negatives: * The rest of the complex seems run down; it is in need of a serious injection of enthusiasm (and finances?).

The children enjoyed getting on board the boat. They however were bit disappointed with aquarium. Overall it was a good time with the family.

Kids loved the aquarium part in the shell museum. The boat / Carvel was the highlight for the kids. Very nice morning. Its just the routes around the museum can be marked out better especially from the spring to munro house and area above spring

We visited the Diaz Museum on holiday. Very informative. Especially for the kids that do not cover this in history any more. The only thing is that it is getting a bit run down and need of a good clean up.

The replica of the ship Bartolomeu Dias used to sail is housed here. You can go inside to see the parts of the ship. A lot of maritime exhibits are included.

Small exhibits to pass the time during the afternoon - a small aquarium, a small garden, a maritime exhibit etc. However, can give it a skip unless you are interested in the history of Mossel Bay.
