Beautiful lake with bird life and hippos. Adds to the charm of the area. It is a short walking distance from the Naivasha Kongoni Lodge which offers a cosy and relaxing stay. Those more adventurous can camp at the Oloiden Camp Site right at the shores of the lake.

Out in the boats you feel slightly uneasy knowing that the hippos are in the water somewhere. But the guide was excellent putting our minds at ease and reassuring us that we were safe. Fantastic

It gave me nostalgia and a sense of calm being by that lake. It's not so busy as L.Naivasha so you get to experience the serenity of life. A trip round the lake was awesome got to see hippos and a lot of birds. Definate worth while.

Highlights: ⁃ Hippos up close and personal ⁃ Plenty of birds to see, no flamingos in August ⁃ Has a very eerie feel to it ⁃ Your boatman will make or break your safari for you I'd recommend ending your day out in Naivasha with the boat safari. We happened to do so, owing only to the timing, and the... More

This is a pleasant place to stop and boat trips are available but there was no sign of flamingos I'm afraid. There were some Pelicans across the lake but we didn't take the trip.

I have only visited Lake Oloiden, not been out on a boat there. Two reasons for that. I only came across one boat owner out of the four boats in sight and he was perceptibly 'high' on Mirra (a drug from the Bhat tree). No way was I getting into a boat with him! Even if I could have found... More

The Boat Ride was amazing and very affordable. The Hippos were scary but thrilling to watch! The boat operators are friendly and they give you a history of everything you need to know!

If you like birds and beautiful haunting scenery, you must check this place out. We took a drive around the marshy area and saw giraffes, birds, baboons, hippos, and more.
