Interesting Visit

Took a group of Kisii health workers here for a treat. Had a very interesting visit - they loved it! A good morning out.

Kisumu Museum is still being renovated, but a visit for an hour is well worth. It displays a variety of things from around the lake. A big exhibit about Luo-life. Adjoined snake park is also interesting.

There's not a ton of classic tourist attritions in Kisimu. My wife and I headed to the Kisimu Museum hoping to learn a bit more about the area and it's people. While we learned a couple of fun facts, the museum is limited, poorly maintained and hard to follow. There are a few different sections of the museum that don't... More

You can see the history of Kenya in an old fashion way. The aquarium is weird but they have also snakes, turtles and crocodiles. You can see how they lived 100 years ago but be aware of the guys in 'traditional' costums!

Compared to Western museums, it is bare bones. Their aquarium isn't the best but does have fish specimen from the very close Victoria Lake. LOTS of information about the Luo culture and even a mock village around the back complete with people in tribal uniform. Not fancy but definitely a worthwhile destination!

I took my family here and they were fascinated by the mud huts and all the history to this place. Nicely done and great day out as we all enjoyed it. Lots to see and do here. The local people were very friendly.

The museum mostly exhibits the luo culture. Mode of dressing. They have an aquarium with different fish types even endangered species. The highlight for me was the snake park. The long African python made my day.

I had been to the national museum in Nairobi. They have about the same things to show but far more elaborate. But I was with nice people so we had a good time. We got nice guidance from a local chap who does that as a freelancer. That made it better, he had plenty to say and was an interesting... More

The museum is always a nice place to have some quiet time...the snakes are quite an interesting watch. The luo homestead is a bit confusing as the structures are not in line with the aid board at the entrance. The art gallery should also be revived. If that happens, it will make it my best place to visit in Kisumu!
