Active Volcano

An amazing experience to watch the explosions of the volcano from the volcano rim. Can only be done when the activity level is 3 or less

Lifechanging experience, looking into the heart of Mother Earth. Went 5 times up the Mountain, every time was different. Saw amazing volcanic landscapes before but Mount Yasur is outstanding.

We did the night tour to Mt. Yasur and it was the highlight of our trip to Vanuatu! Listening to the rumble of the volcano and watching natures fireworks as lava and sulphur plumes exploded up towards us! Just AMAZING!!! Our driver Ennis was very knowledgeable and stopped at some great spots on the way to the volcano and the... More

The tour company picks you up from your hotel and will take you first to the volcano planes (you will hear the first booms of the volcano here) They will then take you into a "mock" village/nakamal (meeting place) for a song and dance. Note the dancing and singing is very different to Port Vila. It will be then up... More

We were driving by 4W close to the top, the final walk was less than 10 minutes to reach to the crater. Impressive natural phenomen to watch the vulcano. Expensive ** 7500 VT ** so we decided to do the walk only once. Anyhow, the next day was raining which helped to stay back.

A must-see attraction in Vanuatu islands! You can see the Yasur volcano from miles away at night. Climb all the way to the rim and experience the magnificent explosions of magma. You have to time the visit so that you are up there at dusk.

What an experience a must trip to do on your list. The ride is worth it. You can hire a good car or get a driver to take you to the volcano. You still have climb to the crater. Either way you will not be disappointed

We stayed at white grass ocean resort - and had our local driver pick us up from the front door. The drive to the volcano itself takes you through some bumpy terrain. Our driver took the time to stop at certain points to explain some of the local village life. Total drive time from white grass is around 1.5hrs, and... More

Unfortunately we were there in the wet season, and had limited opportunity to get to the top of the volcano due to rain (flooded streams, washed away tracks) and cloud cover. Still our host made every effort to get there, and we did get to see the volcano erupt (lava bombs); what was more impressive was feeling the volcano erupt... More

The drive to MtYasur was an adventure on its own. Our driver stopping at the first lookout for us to take photos, we then stopped on the ash plains and could hear the earth begin to breath. So very surreal, looked like something out of mad max. On arrival at the foot of Mt Yasur we were treated to a... More
