The views from the area (no need to go to the top of the volcano!) are mindblowing!! The scenery is beautiful there are a few mummies in a cave relatively easy to visit (entrance is a bit narrow). Tunupa Volcano area worth a visit!

One of the places you go to while on the Salt Lake tour... This is where we had our lunch & it sure is a good place for that... Good shade, nice air, quiet... The volcano itself is not exactly jaw dropping...

Siting on the edge of the vast salt flats it rises to a multi-colored collapsed caldera. You can drive up to a viewpoint about half way up and then a short hike takes you to a cave where there are 3,000 year old mummified skeletons.

Our lodging at the base of Tunupa provided direct and amazing views of the extinct volcano. I was mesmerized by the continually shifting colours on the face, cream, rust, green, white, blue everything in the spectrum. Directly off the Salar De Uyuni in the Altoplano...More
