As others have said you can't come to Easter Island and not be amazed by the experience of visiting Ahu Tongariki, it is a spectacular site. Be sure to allow sufficient time to explore the area too fully appreciate the magnitude of the statues.

This is one of my most favorite site on Easter Island! It’s absolutely beautiful, and well worth a trip to see the sunrise as well. This is where you will find the most Moai on a single Ahu, so bring your camera and get some...More

The absolute pinnacle of our trip to Easter Island. I felt the presence of the ancestors within the Moai Statues. No wonder Thor Heyerdahl wanted to restore the statues to their former glory. We returned to this site 3 times at sunrise and every time...More

Went there twice. At sunrise gate opens at 7:30 am. If you go there around 7ish is better you can already see some colors in the sky. And of course late afternoon when the sun is kissing the 15 Moai standing there watching you. Highly...More

We were lucky and arrived in our hire car before the coach tours. The Moai here are massive and although re-erected I believe by the Japenese, have lost nothing of their grandeur. The site is 'guarded' by the 'Travelling Moai' which left Hanga Roa to...More

The only place has 15 status in the island. Weather is changeable here. You might have heavy rain in the morning but the sky turns clear in the afternoon.

The park rangers here are very friendly. My partner and I visited this place TWICE because it was that impressive. On our second visit, there were two stray puppies near the park ranger hut and we took one home with us to USA!

There are 16 large Moai on this site which was restored by the Japanese after the statues were knocked down by a tsunami. It has the largest number of Moai on the island and they are larger statues than most of the other sites. They...More

We were there last month (3/2015). They drive on the right side of the road. I saw a car rental place right in town but don't know what they cost. If I were you, I'd take a small group or private tour. The tour guides have... More
