About
Barmouth developed as one of the major ship building centres in Wales during the 18th & 19th centuries. The harbour still has a small fishing industry but is mainly used by pleasure craft. The estuary is home to Merioneth Yacht Club. Lining the edge of the harbour are cafes, ice-cream parlours and a pub with pleasant gardens to sit out in and watch the world go by.

Nice to sit and people watch, take in the scenery which is stunning, and look at the boats. . There are cafés and amenities around too
Shame the impressive dolphins fountain isn't working as it is a nice feature

In a glorious setting
Jun 2021
With Barmount Bridge and the mountains in the background, Barmouth Harbour is in a glorious setting. There are benches so you can just sit and drink in the view. However, if you feel more active there is a ferry to Fairbourne and you can then walk back across the bridge with its marvellous views of the Mawddach Estuary.

Small and peaceful
Jul 2021
The harbour is pretty small and peaceful. Not really much there except a few anchored boats, but it's a nice little spot to relax and enjoy the views. The beach is only a couple of minutes further away and the town with shops and pubs is just right behind you.

Ideal place to sit
Jun 2021
Barmouth Harbour is a lovely harbour in a beautiful setting. On a sunny day it is an ideal place to sit on one of the benches and watch the world go by and enjoy those lovely views.

We sat and had lunch by the harbour area and were mightily impressed with it.
There were boat trips going out earlier which was a bit of a surprise during the restrictions.....I was tempted.
There is a gorgeous little ice cream shop near the bridge by the harbour which I also highly recommend.
A great place to sit and enjoy the views.

Great for fishing trips.

A vibrant harbour, just round the corner from the beautiful Barmouth beach. Late afternoon watch the fishing boats come in with their latest catch. Such a fantastic area. Sit in the harbour cafe for a light snack/coffee and watch the boats bob on the water.

Such a breathtaking view at night time when the tide is in and it is dark, there are lights and it’s a great picture opportunity. Such a lovely experience.
