About
Barmouth Bridge, 150 years old in 2017. Currently free for pedestrians and cyclists to cross between Barmouth and Fairbourne. Once on the Fairbourne side, there is a path into Fairbourne itself, or you can travel up the famous Mawddach Trail along the disused railway line towards Dolgellau via the George the III pub.

Inaccessible

It was closed a week earlier than advertised, so trip to Barmouth turned into a trip to Fairborne (seriously, don't do it)

Enjoyed a walk over this bridge from Fairbourne
Sep 2021
Rather than drive into Barmouth whilst on holiday in Fairbourne we walked across the Barmouth bridge. We also caught a train across it but preferred the view when we walked across. We were lucky as it’s closing from now until December for repairs.

Nice short walk
Aug 2021 • Couples
There's not much not to like about this walk. Its a bit like a seaside Pier but with two landward ends.

The bridge is around 900 yards long and is level so the going is easy for most. The pathway is quite narrow making it difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to pass easily but everyone seems to cooperate so its not a problem.

Great views up and out of the Estuary.

Although there is no Admission fee as such, a Toll of £1 per adult is requested on an "honesty box" payment basis...its not much to ask when considering the bridge does not look after itself, and as of 2021 a £25 Million refurbishment project is on-going.

No better way of arriving in Barmouth
Jun 2021
I can think of no better way of arriving in Barmouth than by riding a bike (or walking) over Barmouth Bridge. There are maevellous views of both the Mawddach Estuary and Barmouth itself. If riding a bicycle, though, you have to watch out for pedestians.

Great Views

Didn't realise this was also a foot bridge. We just thought it was for the railway. Nice little work across with some great views of the beach and Barmouth

Beautiful
Jul 2021
Have done this walk many times, never fails to take my breath away, views are stunning. Try the estuary walk by getting the ferry across to the Fairbourne side and follow the path .

Breathtaking views!
Jun 2021 • Couples
It's impossible to describe the views as you cross the bridge, stunning just doesn't do it justice. A wonderful experience and a must see if you're in the area. We walked round to Fairbourne and caught the ferry back to Barmouth. It's a flat walk. The only slight disappointment was the cafe was closed.

Good views to Cadair idris & up the Estuary

You can walk across the bridge which gives good views. There is an honesty box with the current toll being £1. We walked to Arthog & up by the waterfalls before returning

Amazing wildlife
May 2021 • Couples
We thought we would do a short walk!! Which ended out to be 8 km
We started from promenade and walked out off Barmouth towards the bridge. But of a gradient but not too challenging . Crossed over to right side where the view is awesome. The harbour, quaint cottages/ houses , boats all you expect at seaside. The walk itself across the bridge is easy , nearly everyone you meet greeted us with a smile and hello😊
The walk across following a donation to help preserve and renovate the bridge was full of beautiful views and spectacular wildlife, Bees 🐝 bustling about their business and birds nesting. Of course their were seagulls keeping their eyes on things too. It is easily sign posted to either Fairbourne or to a quaint ferry . We took the route to Fairbourne caught the steam train back to the ferry in the estuary. Everyone who worked in these attractions were very helpful and definitely would recommend the trip / walk but allow plenty of time to fully enjoy the scene and take in the fresh sea air.

Good ride

Flat path, bit dusty but easy cycling to the pub George III. Stunning scenery, lots of picnic places and toilets near the station.
