Knockan Crag is well worth a visit. We stopped here on our North Coast 500 trip and are glad we did. The kids loved discovering all the facts on the rocks around them and just exploring the area. There are toilets and a big car park but no other facilities on site.

I think we got lucky, we visited after a snowfall at a very quiet time of year. Parked the car at the end of the access road due to the snow and walked up to it (not far). We were the only people there and walked to the top of the cliff and down the other side. There was around... More

If you set off from Ullapool and drive north after 13 miles or so you arrive at the site of this fascinating crag of rock. It is a really lovely spot and one of significant geological interest. There is a small visitors centre which is worth seeing in itself, set into the amazing landscape. From the car park you will... More

Lovely spot north of Ullapool. Geologically important with a small but interesting visitor centre. A fairly short but also fairly arduous walk up and around the crag rewards you with stunning views all round. However this is not for those who have walking difficulties. A great place to stretch your legs for a break.

Deceptively simple, this visitor centre hosts lots of interesting and unusually presented information about the crag. It gives you options for walks(easy, challenging etc) The views are incredible!

Good clear explanation of how certain rock formations occur situated in a neat enclosure a little way up the hill. You can explore further if you wish. Unfortunate that 3 of the 4 interactive displays were out of order.

We had the best weather when visiting Knockan Crag with Rabbie's small group tours and Grant Millar, our excellent guide showed us this amazing place. It really was a highlight of the island Skye. Wandered around just absorbing God's creation.

This was a fun brief stop on our way into the north western Highlands. There is interesting information about the geological history of the area & a clearly marked walking path.

I have been to lot of beautiful places in my life. This is without doubt one of the most stunning on par or even more beautiful than the lakes we loved the peace and quiet
