Given that the trail centre alone at Glentrool won't be worth the journey for some. Can I recommend a great cross country route to Glentrool which when combined with the trail centre is a memorable day out.....in good weather. Start at Clatteringshaws visitor centre and...More

Spent a few hours traveling the circuit of glentrool. No single tracks, mostly land rover or old roads. A fair few steep climbs so a general level of fitness required. Some nice views and a few things to see on the way round but not...More

It seems odd that the previous reviewer did an orange walk at Glentrool as there is no orange walk! Also strange that the only saw it was open on Saturday as it is open Saturday and Sunday during the winter.

We did the orange walk today which was a short one! Plenty of parking close to the river. They have a Visitor Centre (large wooden hut) which is open on Saturdays only. The toilets appear to only be open then as well! The trees have...More

The Big Country Route was on the cards for our annual mountain bike trip, we knew it wasn't technical, but the distance and scenery was going to change things up a bit. As we were staying in Newton Stewart, we realised that it actually made...More

Did the "Big Country" trail, its a good mix of off road and quiet B road. Need a full day but worth it.

Excellent outdoor marked walks in beautiful countryside over varying distances. There are also trails for mountain bikers. There is a cafe next to the car park with a couple of tables/chairs outside. It is paid parking and cheaper the longer you stay.
