Great morning spent looking around. Amazing to be able to go around top and bottom of moat. Sign posts explain the castle and the guide book has a good family tree map in. Easy walk to cafe and toilets on site.

Not too expensive, so we went in. Interesting ruin, unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. Had a good walk up and down all the stars inside the castle. It was interesting as I already knew about Queen Isabella living there from a programme I watched...More

One of the true remaining castles in England. Lose yourself in History and imagine walking the ramparts in period dress. Although much of it is ruins, you can picture what each room was like centuries ago. The shop has some authentic souveniers for children based...More

Gorgeous views with a really well maintained castle which was a delight to walk around. Unfortunately our trip was spoiled by an attendant who didn’t like the children having a bit of fun on the grounds. Shame

Visited last week Tuesday with my companion. It was so much fun to explore this castle! Lots of interesting twists and turns, even a bridge and quite a few staircases. Be sure to pick up a few mementos at the little shop there.

Not the best looking castle as it is just a big square. However the inside is very well maintained and you can explore the higher floors. Worth a look

Visited in June 2017 whilst on holiday in the area. Entrance price was £4.50 per adult which is reasonable. The castle itself is in good condition which makes it easier to imagine how it might've been many years ago. A few more signs/facts would be...More

The remains of a 12th century castle keep makes for an interesting few hours. A handy tip - don't visit if it's an exceptionally windy day.

Yes dogs are allowed on site, just not inside the castle main structure.
