This a real links course treasure. If you are a golfer visiting Norfolk as I was, this should be at the top of your list. Only a 10 MPH wind, so it played close to its yardage. I imagine it would be a real test of your game when the wind is blowing. Very easy to book, with a quick... More

Amazing place and a quirky clubhouse that sits perfectly with the history and feel of the place. Once you've avoided the hide tide that blocks the road to the club you find a tranquil spot to play your sport. Each hole is different and the condition was fabulous. The fish and chips after the game was just the ticket too.

Great course. Poor welcome. Awful clubhouse, musty and old. Perhaps the gentry like that. Played other good courses on the area and enjoyed the whole experience much more. Great course let down badly by the clubhouse.

From the moment you make the long drive down towards the beach where the clubhouse is perched you know you're at a classic English links. The pro shop is small but well appointed, the driving range more than adequate with a decent short game area and as you would expect the clubhouse is very much in keeping. The first bar... More

This is like stepping back in time. We arrived for an early tee off and the Pro Shop was closed. This proved frustrating because having not played the course before we couldn't get a course guide to work out where the lines to some of the greens! The opening hole is not much to shout about but playing into a... More

After being told we were only allowed to play in a 2 ball ( or a foursome ) we were then followed around the first 7 holes by a ladies foursome and their 6 dogs - on looking around it seems that if you don't take your dog for a round of golf you are the odd one out -... More

Old fashioned is as nice a description as I could think of. Scruffy, tired and overrated is probably a more accurate description. The clubhouse is interesting in that I have never been in one like it. Looks like something out of Bleak House. Food had to be ordered before the round - ridiculous in the 21st century. The course is... More

Played Brancaster on a golf trip with friends in great weather in late Sep 2014. It is possibly because I had heard so much about how great this course was that I perhaps left a bit underwhelmed. The clubhouse is fantastic with the patina of age on the furniture and furnishings. A Captain's list that includes a previous Prince of... More

Just back from my 12th consecutive year of playing Royal West Norfolk Golf Club (Brancaster). It is the highlight of my golfing year. Walk back in time and enjoy golf as it was originally intended. No gimmicks; no trick holes; no artificial man made water hazards. A pure joy. Apart from the golf, pre-order their steak and kidney pie -... More
