The title explains what has happened. Sadly in times of austerity, there simply were not enough donations coming in the keep it going. The patron, a lady called Pippa dispersed the animals elsewhere and has kept a few in a field based in the countryside...More

Such a shame, this has now shut down. They were a charitable organisation for donkeys, but had dogs, pigs, all sorts there. Luckily they managed to re-home everything before closing.

Unable to visit as it closed down a week before we travelled. We heard the donkeys had been found new homes in Malaga.

It caters for other animals other than donkeys and some of my friend take out some of the dogs for walks or just go along to help.

The Nerja Donkey Sanctuary is now closed due financial problems and rising costs. It has been reported locally that the animals were adopted or placed with other similar sanctuaries along the coast.
