Overview
More
With a volume of more than 100,000 m3 and a surface covering 9,371 m2, the Tourist galleries represent approximately one-third of the cave. The cave has been used as a habitat, a burial site and for cultural expression. There are remnants testifying to the passage of hunters, gatherers and fishermen from more than 30,000 years ago. The General Visit starts with the screening of a audiovisual presentation in which you will be able to see spectacular details of the cave (10 minutes). Then an audio-guided visit through the different chambers of the Cave, in a pleasant walk of about 45 minutes where you will discover the many secrets the grotto keeps (audio-guided in Spanish, English, German, French, Italian and Russian). When the cave closes its doors, a small group of privileged people can enter the mystery of the underworld to enjoy the magnificence and beauty of the cave, and discover its secrets. After reading the description of what to do at the caves, it made sense to purchase an inclusive ticket that would get us into the caves, the museum and on the train. Unfortunately we didn’t have access to the train schedule and found out it...More

Get a map from the information office at the caves, then walk as far or as short as you like around the pine forests. Quite delightful.

Really enjoyed the tour of the caves - very impressive and much bigger than expected. There is a restaurant with lovely views but not really a café except for coffee and cake. The botanical gardens are worth a look round.

Take the train from Nerja. You are guided by a prerecorded audioguide which is a bit boring but the cave itself and it s history is very interesting.

A visit to the caves was part of a day tour I went on. Unfortunately our tour guide hurried us through the caves in a little under 20 minutes after claiming it only took half an hour to see and go through. Wrong!! Could easily...More
