The visit to the alcazaba was very enjoyable. Fine views and good value including an audio guide. Our guidebook had wrongly informed us that it is closed to the public, it is very much open even on Mondays when much of Antequera is closed, and has been since 2008. On my return I wondered if our guidebook, now in the... More

We really loved Antequera and the Alcazaba is one of the reasons. After a nice walk uphill from the town center, you will be able to buy entry tickets at the gate. The fortress is really magnificent, and the garden is a true oasis. The audioguide is rather nice, although it takes some time if you want to listen to... More

A good castle (but there are so many in Spain). The audioguide doesnt really give an insight into the history of the site which goes back to the visigoths, but focuses more on its change of hands and defences. The views are breathtaking. Its very well kept and very affordable. I would recommend if you are in the area.

Bit of a trek up the hill but worth it whe you get there. Great views, couple of cafes an interesting place to spend a couple of hours

We visited Antequera on a 'spare' day in our holiday, as it wasn't too far away and looked nice, without knowing too much about it. However, we were extremely impressed by the town, and certainly by the Alcazaba! The entrance was €4 per person to just see the alcazaba or €6 to do the church next door as well. An... More

We really enjoyed our visit to this site. We had individual recorded information and a map to guide us round. To visit the walls and towers involved quite a few steps but the history and views over Antequera made it worth it.

It's a long climb through the town, but eventually you arrive at the top ... the highest point in Antequera. Alcazaba consists currently of three towers -- one recently discovered and restored -- and ramparts. Standing at almost arms-length from the northern walls is the Colegiata de Santa Maria la Mayor church and plaza. The church and the fortress have... More

These are the remains of what it used to be one of the mayor hubs of the Moorish ruling and key military landmark of the Reconquista. It has been recently restored so you can actually walk go inside the two mayor towers and walk the perimeter of the walls. The 4 euros of the entrance include also an audio guide... More

Not too crowded but provided a fascinating overview of Moorish Catholic conquests and history via audio guide.
