This marvelous church is in the barroque style, with some motifs in golden leaf. The architecture is superb, the entrance is free. It holds the image of our lady of Nazaré. The story tells the image was done the hands of Saint Joseph himself. Worth a visit to contemplate the religious art, one of the finest of Portugal.

When you will visit the church you must go upstairs to visit the figure of Nostra Segnora very closely from there you will have a great view on the church and you will see amazing corridors with tiles. Really worth to see.

Not only the view from up top, but also the culture - the shops, the church with its old marvels and the restaurants around the square. A must visit site

We were fortunate to visit while a small family group was having a private service in one of the hidden side chapels. Their singing voices filtered through to the church, adding an extra dimension to the visual beauty that is very evident from the moment you enter. Even the sprawling beggar at the entrance seemed moved. This is the church's... More

It's a peaceful place to visit in Nazare, located on the hilltop O Sitio overlooking Nazaré, it includes a beautiful wooden statue of Virgin Mary with her child, they said it was done by St Joseph...the place where is located the church is surrounded with restaurant and coffee shops.

Church with an interesting history, stunning pictorial tiles and beautiful woodwork. Well worth an hour or two if in the area, the location and viewpoints are stunning with marvelous views over Nazaré and down to Peniche. The square in which the church sits has lots of cafes and restaraunts so you can admire the frontage over a cool drink

There was a mass when I visited the church and I was not able to take pictures of the interior. But I love this church, specially the almost circular steps that go up to the church entrance. I went to the side of the church where it was quiet and I discovered the arches and old doors, which I found... More
