Food in cafe v nice & reasonably priced. Booked Santa for 4pm, went to desk for 3.50pm..did not get to see Santa until after 6pm. The whole 'experience' was more like an 'endurance'..as it mainly consisted of queuing. We queued with the 'Elves' who didn't really interact at all, where our daughter was given some popcorn. Then went into another area, which was cold & had no seating & waited again for the magician (who was OK for about 10mins) not 30mins. Eventually was let through to Santa's Grotto, lights were nice but queued for over an hr for less than 5 mins with Santa. No hot chocolate for kids or drinks for adults. Everyone did get a present which was good. I wouldn't return again, even though it was cheaper than some other Santa experiences, pay the extra for West port Hse or Elftown.

This was our second trip to the Arigna Mines previously visited in 2013 and was so impressed vowed we would do the tour again. Our guide Michael was excellent and told us an awful lot about the conditions in which the men worked their Health and Safety was the picture of the Sacred Heart at the entrance where they stopped to say a prayer each morning for protection, and he did a great job. Our group ages where from 8 year old boy to seniors up to 90 years and they all found it a very interesting and enjoyable visit. Would also recommend a visit to the cafe.

Excellent visit and experience with the guide, Maurice, an ex-miner, helping you re-live a taste of what it must have been like working underground. Highly recommended but wear warm clothing and sturdy footwear as its cold and damp underground

Interesting and fun tour!
Gerry is a wealth of knowledge and a great story teller!
It's amazing to have this piece of local history and to experience the mines with someone who worked in them.
The cafe has great views!

We were very curious to learn about the coal mining in Ireland. On our drive from Dublin to Sligo, we were able to fit in a visit to the Arigna Mine. This mine, which was a working mine until a few years ago, offered a very interesting tour by one of the former miners. We want to specifically compliment our tour guide who not only was very knowledgeable about the history but offered us personal information as the son of a miner about his career as a miner which started at age 15. It was a hard life. We recommend this tour.

A really interesting example of how a story of life in a mining village is told. Well worth a visit and the tour guide a former miner (Gerard) was just fabulous. Really brought the story to life. Lovely cafe and gift shop also on site and on a good clear day five counties can be seen from the top. Really enjoyed it.

A fabulous tour given by one of the miners. very informative and we joined him on a walk around the original mine. there were displays of the equipment which was used and models of the miners in the conditions they worked in. came away with an appreciation of the life they led both inside and outside the mine. The cafe and gift shop are beautiful also.

Throughly enjoyed our visit to Arigna Mines, would definitely recommend a visit, it was informative and fascinating. Gerry Cullen our guide was outstanding, he was passionate about his storytelling and gave us great insight into the days of mining.

This exhibition is totally underrated as a place to visit.! From the friendly front desk staff, to the excellent cafe, this is so well worth visiting. The tour guide Jerry ,who was himself a former miner, explained so well the ardous work involved, and the hard daily lives of the miners. So worth a visit to see the labours of the past generations for our benefit.

Absolutely brilliant guided tour of the mines, taken around by a miner who used to work there, so the information was first hand from lived experience. We entered the mine and put on helmets (ensure you have a coat, its cool down in the mine). The guide was friendly, full of interesting knowledge, answering all the questions from the members of the group. A fantastic tour and a history not to be missed. Stunning views from the visitor centre. Cafe available with gift shop also.
