Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This tower dates fro the 11th or 12th century and was badly restored in the 1800’s although it still looks impressive and striking as you approach the area.
The was a monastery here still the 5th century founded by St Patrick. The was a church but little remains. The graveyard is still in use and you can only have limestone headstones to match the period gravestones. An interesting view and my second time here.

The round tower here is quite well-preserved. The carvings on the doorway in particular are still showing well. The top of the tower was reconstructed incorrectly in the 1800’s unfortunately. There is a graveyard and the remains of a monastery in the grounds as well.

Very easy to drive by this tower, to most of the locals who never visit this its a shame. Take 20 minutes out of your time and go visit this tower, accessible through the ajoining gravyard and take a walk around. Little is left of the original building but whats left is amazing to stand beside and wonder how it was put together. Its free in and easy to get to.

We made a quick stop here and found it quite enjoyable. We were not able to enter this round tower but from the outside it is amazingly intact and very picturesque.

This is worth a 15 minute stop if you're driving past. The ruins are beautiful in the middle of the country. It was quite deserted in March - and windy and cold!

Ireland is full to overflowing with charming, historical, scenic, picturesque locations. You can be in your car driving from Navan to Slane and you see a tower on your left hand side and as you’re new to the area you think, why not stop, I’m not in a rush? Donaghmore is just this spot. It’s not a great historical site nor the most beautiful or historical location but it’s very pleasant and I was the only one there. If you enjoy visiting old cemeteries, which I do, then you will really enjoy this one. Or if you just want a quick stop to stretch your legs when driving through then this is a good place to do it.

Great place to visit for its grave sites. The graves , crosses and tower tell an interesting story of faith and travel in that era of Irish history. It was the way the illiterate locals could learn about the faith. If driving it also has an excellent public toilet which are few and far between out here.

Lovely round tower in a peaceful graveyard just off the N51. Plenty of parking available and with it being within a graveyard free to enter. Make sure you pay your respects to the unnamed croppy on your way through.

This was yet another great stop in County Meath for us. We had already seen the monastic site in Kells and adding this site in Navan was easy to do. Both attractions complemented one another nicely. Like so many of the sites I saw in County Meath there were no crowds and the towns were lovely and quaint. I loved how ancient history sits seamlessly alongside recent history and the present. Beautiful site.
