A super day of yoga and relaxation
The day retreat at Carlingford Yoga is really great - amazing yoga, a lovely walk and delicious vegetarin food. I've been twice - in early September on my own and last Sunday with a friend. Both times the yoga was brilliant. I'm new to Iyengar yoga but, as so often with yoga, found it was exactly what I needed! The teachers, Martina, last Sunday, and Claire Ferry, in September, were incredible, so precise, inspiring and enabling. And on both Sundays the sun shone during our lovely walk. Eagle's Rock is a beautiful welcoming place. Thank you Martina and Stuart! Helen Mahony
    Dear Helen, thank you!

    Yoga retreat weekend
We went to an Iyenger yoga retreat last weekend with Claire Ferry yoga and it was just superb. Fantastic facilities with Stuart and Martina being the most unbelievable hosts. The food was to die for (I'm a chef!) and our guided walk over the mountains with Stuart on Saturday down to Carlingford Town was brilliant. We have booked our own retreat here for a weekend of yoga in January 2024. The rooms and great and very spacious. This is a magical location with the best energy. Thankyou Stuart, Martina for your hospitality allowing us to share your beautiful home and Claire for the great yoga.
Paul, you are so kind. It was a very lovely group to host. Delighted you will join us once again in the new year.

There is a beautiful warmth and energy at Eagles Rock Retreat.
The Christmas yoga retreat at Carlingford Yoga surpassed all expectations. The welcome from Stuart and Martina into their beautiful cosy home at Eagles Rock Retreat instantly made us feel comfortable and at ease. Martina is an immensely talented and skilled teacher of Iyengar yoga. The morning and evening sessions were meticulously planned and taught with great patience, understanding and precision. Martina's keen eye misses nothing and she instills a trust and confidence in the student to allow one to progress and reach a deeper practice and be motivated to continue along that path. She is utterly generous with her knowledge of yoga, meditation and holistic nutrition. The daily hikes led by Stuart were relaxed and full of good cheer sprinkled with snippets of history and tales of folklore as we explored the beautiful hidden valley and meandered into Carlingford Lough. The vibe was always chilled out and the way planned so that we could make the most of the time and views and see the best of the countryside with a minibus organised to bring us back to base on two of the days so as to conserve energy and not have to retrace our steps. That really was thoughtful and going the extra mile for us! The food at Eagles Rock Retreat was absolutely fabulous. A varied range of vegan feasts that were balanced, generous and nutritious were served at brunch and dinner everyday, and although I have to exclude certain vegetables that are normally a staple part of a vegan diet, considered and thoughtful adaptations were made so that I could still partake of the gorgeous tasty dishes that were being served. I think this is a real testament to the hospitality and the care with which the team cater for every guest. A huge thanks to Mary, Martina and Stuart for this. We are still dreaming and talking about the food having never realised that vegan food could be so delicious! There is a beautiful warmth and energy at Eagles Rock Retreat. Stuart and Martina have really created something special. We feel very privileged to have been able to escape to this retreat, enjoy the wonderful hospitality and company and good humour of fellow yogis in such a peaceful place and return feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. Thank you. Namaste.
Can't thank you enough for spending a very important time of year with us. Really so pleased it was what you hoped for.

A really positive start to the year :)
The yoga style was amazing in a gorgeous purpose built studio in a stunning location. Amazing home made vegan food- still thinking about the desserts! Would really recommend the hike to Carlingford but also its an environment where you can opt out of parts of the retreat to rest/read if you want. Hosts, Stuart and Martina, were welcoming and Martina was very encouraging at pushing yourself to try more challenging positions in Iyengar yoga, which I had never tried before
Stay with the practice! Really grateful for your kind words and so happy you enjoyed your visit.

    Wonderful yoga weekend
I had an amazing weekend at Eagles Rock retreat full of lovely yoga with Sinead. The studio was just gorgeous and so warm and cosy with a fire. It was so well equipped and loved the ropes. We were hosted by Mary and Paul who were amazing with attention to detail making sure we were happy, warm and very well fed, with plenty of good wholesome food. We had a lovely walk over the hill to Carlingford as well as a meditation walk the following morning. Also loved the very gorgeous and friendly lion cat.
Delighted you enjoyed your stay. Thanks so much for visiting.

Sunny and Joyful Day at Eagles Rock
Great day last weekend with Stewart (funny chats) and Martina (amazing cook). It was my 3rd visit, so they're doing something right! Thanks also to Susan and Gillian of Inner Glow Retreats who brought us there for Funky Flow and Yin classes in the beautiful room overlooking the hills and Carlingford Bay. We were blessed with the weather too. I'll be back for the Raw Banoffi cake. Thanks again, Charlie.
Hi Charlie, really appreciate your visits and kind review. There's a new bread recipe to check out too. You will not be disappointed.

First ever Yoga experience was a brilliant day to remember.
From the outset of arranging vouchers (Christmas present) to attending the Yoga retreat day itself, Hosts Martina and Stuart made the logistic process as seemless as the event itself. A very idyllic location set in a glen (valley). Friendly and inviting hosts made us feel welcome right from the start. Had not tried Yoga before so with all the equipment supplied and Martina guiding the group, it was a very enjoyable experience. The group itself was quite a mix - from beginners all the way up to instructors. Nicely timed with lunch and an afternoon walk through the glen followed by cake and an afternoon of restorative Yoga. I liked the fact that the day was relaxed, guided by but not run by the clock. Not surprisingly, it rained for the day but as the hosts advised on appropriate outdoor gear, the walk only added to the positive experience of the day. I am not a Vegan but thoroughly enjoyed the lunch and afternoon tea and cake.
Most grateful for your visit and kind review. Hope you stay with your practice and try those recipes.

I love this place in so many ways
I was there in July 2023 and back now in June 2024 for the Solstice weekend. The house is beautifully decorated, and even inside feels like you're out in nature. The hosts Martina and Stuart are the best! Very helpful, sweet, calm and fun, keeping the vibe always up and comforting. Martina's classes are so precise! She's very dedicated to the atendees, watching everyone and fixing us so we can get the best out of the practice. The food prepared by them is gorgeous, OMG! The beds and pillows are very comfortable. I wish I could express more, but words will never describe what this place is like.... Will keep going back.
You very much love hosting you. Until next time. Many thanks for your kind words.

    Just what I needed.
Amazing weekend retreat of yoga, meditation, walking and wonderful food in the most peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Martina & Stuart are such attentive and welcoming hosts doing everything possible to ensure guests have everything they need. The yoga studio is such a lovely space and Martina is a fantastic teacher. encouraging and supporting each person with kindness and a great sense of fun. Using so many props was not something I'd done before and I loved how it allowed me to stretch my body and let go mentally and physically. Thank you Martina for creating a safe space to do so. A perfect place to come if you want to feel gently challenged, relaxed, refreshed and renewed. Loved every minute of it and will definitely return.
We are so encouraged by your very kind and thoughtful review. Do home you will return.

Look - I was pretty much duped into coming by my pal who booked it with limited consent. But she had been on the retreats before a couple of times, and does the online classes, so I trusted her. I had never done yoga before, except for limited pregnancy yoga years ago, so it was all very new. But it wasn’t intimidating at all, everyone introduced themselves at the start as to our experience and practice, we all knew where each other were at. Martina is excellent - there is no ego or competitiveness in the group - she somehow manages the group who scaled from an experienced yoga teacher right down to me, a complete beginner. And I had the confidence to go for it, no judgement, push myself, and fully participate, doing things that on first look seemed impossible, but 5 minutes later you’re doing it. Or maybe not, and that’s fine too. Constantly encouraged to listen to yourself and your body. And the homeliness of it. You are literally in their home, in their garden and kitchen, watching Martina and Stuart harvest the vegetables and cook your meal, tell you the recipe. The openness is like staying with relatives. And there’s a lovely interaction with everyone else on the retreat, so whether you’re on your own or in a group, you interact with everyone at a caring level, a camaraderie. I loved the walks, and learning about the local history, watching the buzzards, navigating the uneven terrain and watching the clouds below us onto Carlingford. I felt that I was away for a long time. Away from everything. And I hold myself differently now, my posture has changed, and I know this is a practice I need to maintain.

I was really happy with my weekend retreat trip to Eagles Rock.
I found the pricing very fair, the quality of yoga teaching was excellent by Martina - I felt she was patient and encouraging.
The food is top notch, all vegan and delicious.
The accommodation is very clean and well kept.
The only thing was on the Saturday there was no hot water for showers but we could survive of course.
I would recommend for solo yogis who would like the experience of going into the countryside and be surrounded by calm, rolling green hills and a zen atmosphere. All other participants were very friendly and open too.
Also note that this is a family home you're hosted in, it's run by a couple and their child, but the atmosphere was nice.

An amazing way to spend a Sunday! Eagles Rock Retreat had been recommended to me by a friend, but even though she raved about it, I still didn't expect it to live up to such high expectations....

Eagles Rock was all of the hype and more!

Two hours of Yoga in the morning, followed by a delicious Vegan lunch - a brisk hike up the nearby mountain with a well earned cuppa and Vegan cake... and then two more hours of Yoga before we left Carlingford, tired and happy!

I had a long hot bath and drank plenty of water last night - and today I feel like a million dollars! I'm not still or store and that was literally my first time to do Yoga. I took the plastic off my mat in the car on the way to Carlingford...

I would highly recommend this full day retreat - Stuart and Martina literally could not have done more to make us all feel very welcome.

The Easter long weekend was very special for me. I spent some time in a little village near Carlingford, on the border with Northern Ireland.

I was planning to go on a retreat long time ago. Initially to a Qi Gong retreat, as I'm practicing and teaching Qi Gong.

As there are a lot more yoga retreats than Qi Gong in Ireland, I found a four day yoga retreat in Carlingford. The place looked amazing, very picturesque in the photos and I liked the program. So it was my plan for Easter holidays.

I hadn't been doing a lot of yoga before, especially Iyengar yoga and it looked very exciting, new for me.

I met beautiful like-minded people, warm, positive, very interesting..

We were living in a cottage in the field surrounded by sheep and little newly born lambs. There was full connection to nature.

We had daily yoga practices, and yoga was specific. I would call it an acrobatic yoga. We were hanging on the ropes with our heads down, using the chairs, bolsters, blocks, it really felt like you're doing something above your potential. For me it was really going out of my comfort zone, starting doing something new, slightly challenging, completely different..

Apart from the yoga we also went hiking, walking upon the hill and in the forest, then descending to the seaside. and enjoying a cup of coffee with plenty of chats and laughs with our folks.

We also had some time for ourselves that I really appreciated.. Time to read, write, reflect.. I

The family who were organising the retreat live there, it's their home. They were hosting us, cooking delicious food making us feel like home.

I'm grateful for this time.

Big thank you.

I've just returned from the Win Hof retreat and it was one of the best experiences I've had in such a long time. I booked it as a solo trip and I was initially worried about spending a weekend with strangers. Straight away my worries disappeared as they were the best bunch of people. We all had such a great time together. Stuart and Martina are amazing hosts and they made everyone feel part of their family. It's worth going there for the food alone! The food was all vegan and it was absolutely beautiful. The bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious. Everything is so clean. They have a beautiful yoga studio and Martina is an amazing yoga teacher. Stuart brought us on some really enjoyable hikes and told us some of the interesting history and folklore of the area. John delivered a fantastic workshop on the Wim Hof Method. I'd highly recommend him, he has a great way of teaching the method. All in all, this is a fantastic place and I will definitely be back. As I said in the title, it truly was a life changing experience. I went there for some therapy and rest and the experience exceeded way beyond my expectations. This place is a hidden gem and I'm so glad I've experienced it.

I was invited to teach a weekend retreat at Carlingford Yoga by Martina & Stuart. I'd already heard good things about the venue from students of mine who had attended other retreats there. It was wonderful! The accommodation is shared but the 'bunk' beds are more like platform beds with plenty of space and in most rooms each curtained off. As the teacher I would normally have slept in my own room but we were completely full and the gender mix meant I ended up sharing with one of the students (also a friend) but that wasn't a problem at all. The studio itself is very well-equipped with wall ropes, yoga chairs, bolsters, bricks, blocks, belts, blankets, eye bags. Such a gorgeous view! The food is all home-cooked vegan and there's a homely atmosphere about eating together, and a living room to relax in too. All admin sorted by Martina and Stuart so it was a very relaxing experience for me as the teacher!

The eating and living areas are upstairs. There is a cat who sneaks into the yoga studio if he can but is not allowed in the house - just in case of allergies.

What an amazing experience!
I was treated to a day of yoga, hiking and amazing food in a breathtaking location at Eagles Rock.
Stuart and Martina are so welcoming and you feel like a guest in their beautiful home and retreat.
The yoga is practiced in a nearby studio that is so warm and cozy; even on a cold January day you are in total comfort.
The experience is so rejuvenating - I'd recommend it to anyone - you don't need to have had much practice to get the benefit of this retreat.
