45 minutes from Cork city and you will be transported on an exclusive historical natural visitor experience. A charming 10-seater passenger ferry 'Yassy' and a local guide will transport you to the previously inaccessible island; up the steep grassy incline to the summit and inside the black tower and onto the lantern balcony.

Only goats live on the island.. sometimes they come and say hello!

Because of the boat they are limited to bringing only ten people out every time. As a result you get a very individual tour, from a knowledgeable and affable guide (Peter in our case). He did an excellent job but the whole trip was great. Recommended.

We visited as a family with 2 children (5 & 7) and had a great trip. The boat trip across to the island was great and lifejackets are available to all. Our guide was very informative and very enthusiastic about the island & lighthouse haveing spent some time on the island during his childhood. Our guide shared lots of interesting... More

after many years of looking over at the lighthouse it was lovely to get over to it. Views were fabulous and guide was very knowledgeable. My 11 yr old son also loved it.

My wife and I recently took time out to visit Ballycotton and experience this recently launched local initiative to visit Ballycotton Lighthouse and Island. For the first time ever, one can explore this wild, natural and unspoilt lighthouse island. Booking is available online or ringing a local number and is advisable as accommodation is limited to ten people on the... More

We recently visited Ballycotton and were lucky enough to secure a place on the Ballycotton Island Lighthouse Tour. I would recommend that you book the tour before your visit as the boat is quite small and can only accommodate approx ten persons. We collected our tickets in the Inn by the Harbour and walked the short distance to the Harbour.... More

My family and I have just returned from our annual trip to Ireland. Both my husband and are natives, now living in the US. This year we did the guided lighthouse tour in Ballycotton with our 3 teenage children. Let me premise this by saying that the weather in Ireland during our stay was absolutely fantastic, sunny days, cool nights,... More

My friends, their three children and I took an afternoon tour to Ballycotton Lighthouse recently and it was a great day out! The trip across to the Island takes only about 10 mins, and Derry, our friendly and personable guide, who has lived in the area for many years, was able to tell us much about the region and its... Having spent many years looking out on the Ballycotton Island Lighthouse from Garryvoe beach it was just a delight to get the opportunity to get onto the Island and entry the lighthouse tower. The tour guide we had was called Eddie and he was a lighthouse keeper in the late 60's and gave a fantastic insight into what life was... More
