45 minutes from Cork city and you will be transported on an exclusive historical natural visitor experience. A charming 10-seater passenger ferry 'Yassy' and a local guide will transport you to the previously inaccessible island; up the steep grassy incline to the summit and inside the black tower and onto the lantern balcony.

Only goats live on the island.. sometimes they come and say hello!

It was too choppy to land but they kindly took us on a trip around the island as our 2 girls were absolutely distraught at not being able to visit the lighthouse from Song of the Sea. Lots of interesting facts about the decline and lack of need for lighthouses in the GPS age.

The boat trip to the island from Ballycotton pier was short yet all of the group was swiftly yet carefully fitted with life jackets by both the skipper Mossy Murray and the tour guide Eddie Fitzgerald. Both were very helpful and professional. The tour guide was a former light house keeper and spoke so well of the light house community... More

Really lovely trip for all ages, beautiful views of the coastline and Ballycotton from the top of the lighthouse. Very informative tour with a personal edge from the guide. Well worth the trip.

Firstly, the boat trip out- very pleasant, and good to see that they're safety conscious (wearing of life jackets was compulsory, even though the trip was very short and very smooth.) The tour guide was very knowledgable and gave us lots of interesting information about the lighthouse and the lives of the keepers and their families. For keen photographers, a... More

We took the tour on Saturday at lunchtime. It was a brilliant 2 and half hours. We arrived and met our tour guide peter and the boat driver mossy who are both part of the local lifeboat service so we knew we were in safe hands. The tour is a spoken tour of the island and lighthouse and its history... More

Did this trip in June 2015 with 3 friends. Our guide was Nora McNamara, who was captivating in her storytelling throughout, having lived on Ballycotton Island at the Lighthouse as a child. The scenery is stunning, and to see the lighthouse itself up close was a magnificent sight. Nora's story of the history of the lighthouse and her recollection of... More

My wife and I did this trip last week . Completely exceeded our expectations -our guide was a very engaging storyteller with great knowledge (a former lighthouse keeper , among other things). the boat trip was short and pleasant ( even with a big wallow on each run -its a feature of the short Island Sound and nothing to worry... I just loved this trip. Great local knowledge of the area and fishing industry. In depth knowledge of life on the island and contruction of the Lighthouse. And something for the everyone, kids and adults. I cannot wait to go back.

Great tour with Mossie and Derry. Really informative for kids and adults with a great mix of history, folklore and some funny stories. You don't always do the things that are on your doorstep but I am delighted that we did this as part of a family get together.
