45 minutes from Cork city and you will be transported on an exclusive historical natural visitor experience. A charming 10-seater passenger ferry 'Yassy' and a local guide will transport you to the previously inaccessible island; up the steep grassy incline to the summit and inside the black tower and onto the lantern balcony. Only goats live on the island.. sometimes they come and say hello!

Visited the lighthouse with Australian family, the boat trip out was lovely as the sun was shining. The climb to lighthouse is step but worth it for the views when you get to the helicopter landing pad and look back towards the mainland. The tour...More

Ballycotton is a really wonderful place. The visit of the lighthouse is very interesting, as the guide is the former keeper. The view from the island is great, it it was worth paying 20e to get there!

The visit was simply enjoyable! The weather was amazing, the guide interesting and the island full of history. I particularly loved having some anecdotes from our guide, former keeper of the lighthouse. Really something to do when you come to that lovely village of Ballycotton!

April may not seem an ideal time weather-wise to take a boat trip out to an island but we did it! It's about 10/15 minutes boat ride from the harbour. Life jackets are issued before boarding and a brief safety talk is given. The boat...More

A friend arranged this on short notice and we had the best day. Beautiful weather added to the pleasant short boat trip to the island which in turn offered endless views. And the biggest surprise, who knew the lighthouse was black. Even the locals believed...More

After 8min in boat trip, we found ourselves on Ballycotton island. The tour is really interesting through Derry who is a great guide! Once reached the top, we have a wonderful view of the village of Ballycotton and the coast.

Allow at least two hours for this unique tour. A short boat trip, followed by a tour of the island and then its lighthouse. The stories, the history and the views were all outstanding. Best of all was the climb to the top of the...More

We made it to Ballycotton well before the tours ended for the day, according to their website: http://www.ballycottonislandlighthousetours.com/index.html The owner of the Inn by the Harbor refused to take us because there weren’t 10 people going. He felt that it was not worth it to...More
