45 minutes from Cork city and you will be transported on an exclusive historical natural visitor experience. A charming 10-seater passenger ferry 'Yassy' and a local guide will transport you to the previously inaccessible island; up the steep grassy incline to the summit and inside the black tower and onto the lantern balcony.

Only goats live on the island.. sometimes they come and say hello!

After 8min in boat trip, we found ourselves on Ballycotton island. The tour is really interesting through Derry who is a great guide! Once reached the top, we have a wonderful view of the village of Ballycotton and the coast.

Allow at least two hours for this unique tour. A short boat trip, followed by a tour of the island and then its lighthouse. The stories, the history and the views were all outstanding. Best of all was the climb to the top of the lighthouse itself. But the extremely well-informed guide (himself a serving member of the local RNLI)... More

We made it to Ballycotton well before the tours ended for the day, according to their website: http://www.ballycottonislandlighthousetours.com/index.html The owner of the Inn by the Harbor refused to take us because there weren’t 10 people going. He felt that it was not worth it to take 2 people to the cliffs, and attempted to get us to come back tomorrow... More

We had a wonderful two hour tour of the lighthouse with a superb guide who gave us a fascinating tour of the island and the lighthouse itself. From the top we had fantastic views of the coastline from the Old Head of Kinsale to Youghal. The guide was full of interesting tales about the lighthouse keepers of the past and... More

This was one the best things I have ever done! I booked on line the night before with no problem. The drive to Ballycotton was scenic, and I was able to park on the pier right near the trip kiosk. A plus is that there are public bathroom facilities available on the dock although they are a bit primitive. The... More

Ballycotton Lighthouse Tours are well run with fantastic staff who are full of information on the history of the lighthouse. Seibhe was at the office on the pier and on the day Hazel was the tour guide who was passionate about the light house. The boat trip out giving amazing views of the Island surrounded by its clear waters. A... More

Having booked the tour 1 week in advance I was really looking forward to the trip to the light house on arrival to check in I was informed that there was no trips on that day because of some incident out on the island I didn't mind that but as I had travelled to ballycotton no body from the tour... We did not book this in advance - big mistake. When we arrived, we found that the boat only holds 10 people and the book up quickly. It's well worth the trip. We decided to hang around to see if everyone showed up for their reservation. We were glad we did because we were able to go. It's worth the... More

Went on this tour recently and loved every minute of it. Our guide, Saibh was great and told the group about the history of the lighthouse aswell as local history and stories. This is well worth a visit.
