Another humongous waterfall that is very impressive. You can expect spending 1 to 2 hours here. The west side is the one with the paved road, parking, toilets and all the infrastructure. While you are there, please search for my sunglasses, I forgot them at the parking lot. The east side is less modern but you can get very (dangerously)... More

This is the most stunning waterfall we have ever seen. It is easily accessible from the road, between Akureyre and Lake Myvatn.

If anybody has time, you should go both sides to view this spectacle. Even the canyon without waterfall is beautiful.

Came there in May, but I come there frequently and this place always delivers that awww feeling. Small walking path from the car park to the platform but we'll worth the walk.

We ended up going to this falls last min and right before sunset. It's a tiny hike but watch out for ice closer to the falls. What an amazing scene. Be sure to go tot the platform for the best views.

Stunning, walking required, enjoy while walking, take precautions while walking, lots of rocks but safe, do not tempt to get close to the falls

There are thousands of waterfalls in Iceland. Which is best? This is the best! Also, actually there are two waterfalls. You need to walk for almost 1 km when you parked the car. Go straight and the road will be splitted into two. At the left side, there is the big one, if you walk to the right hand side,... More

We visited after leaving Myvatn en route to Seyoisfjorour. A good detour off the main road, but "you have to". We visited in December 2016, following a snow fall. The roads were clear, but icy, but studded tyres are compulsory, so this is not a problem. The walk out to the falls is well marked, but a good solid 20-30... More

Be careful when going in the winter when the roads are icy. Theres only slight inclines along the way, but definitely doable with the right shoes and clothing. You can choose either Dettifoss or Selfoss (which is about .2 km closer).
