We had a great day at the lake even though it rained on us twice while we were there. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My husband and older son fished while I hiked around the lake with our younger son. Perfect family outing.

Took family out for first time. No cost unless you are staying or renting equipment. Very rare around the area. All had great time. Expected to stay couple hours and turned into all day. We are not normally lake dwellers but would highly recommend. We...More

We loved our week of camping at Lake Leatherwood campground! What a beautiful spot. We kayaked and took one of the most beautiful hikes we've ever done. There are several trails and we took the hike around the whole lake beginning at #10. There is...More

Lots of options for hiking. Beautiful setting for outdoor adventures. We went to see birds and we're rewarded with birds and wild hogs! The dam is worth the walk and there are so many beautiful views along the way.

Rain kept us from exploring this area during our short trip but looked promising for some short hikes in the future if we return to area.

We hiked all the way around the lake and it was beautiful. The dam was in disrepair, but I believe that will be repaired soon. I would like to return and enjoy camping as well. The trail maps are accurate and informative.

We stopped to hike. The trails were quite rough and rutted up. Recent rain also made the area quite wet. It was 70 degrees when we hiked, I wouldn't want it to be any hotter as there wasn't much airflow until we got to the...More

I love the hiking trails around Leatherwood lake. There are several to choose from, and one that goes out to the dam along the banks of the lake. You can also rent some kayaks or canoes from the little rental cabin. I brought my hammock...More

Had a great little hiking adventure at Lake Leatherwood in December. Lovely scenery with interesting rock ledges. We went on a drizzly day so there weren't a lot of other people there. A pro is that it is a city park so there is no...More

I agree with the other answer too. The lake is really beautiful but no shore line for much of anything. Not the right place to have a wedding at
