Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have such mixed feelings from this cathedral. There is a place for children to play inside of the cathedral, which is very nice. At the same time, there is a big "Silence!" sign right at the entrance of the church, and also at some other places, making the church looking almost sterile and very cold for people entering the building. I had a feeling that people are there for the building, not that the building is there for the people, not making me very relaxed and just wanting me to leave.
In any case, this is a monument of the town. Not the nicest building, architecturally speaking. But it stands out on the hill and you can't miss it almost on any of your pictures.

Have seen a lot of churches in my travels in Europe and this one was slightly underwhelming but still the jewel of the old town. Nice views from outside the church and was pleased that it was free to enter.

This old church is located in the heart of Porvoo old town. Good parking places nearby the church. Good viewpoint to the river. The church has unique atmosphere, both outside and inside. Worth of visiting!

If you're visiting the quaint little town of Porvoo, then it is worth your walk up the hill to visit the Cathedral of Porvoo. The cathedral isn't very large, but has that old world charm. Free to visit inside and outside.

The church of Porvoo city is a very nice old building. It was first build of wood but during the years 1410 - 1420 they entlarged the church by stone. The church is designed to Gotic style. It is one of the most famous churches in Finland and every year a great number of turists visit the churche. It is inside very nice with 750 sitting places. The year 1809 was a very historical year for the church. The Russian emperor Alexander the first hold a speek there when Finland became a part of Russia. The speek was hold in French language and tranlated to Swedish by the Finnsh
general Sprengtporten. The main language in Finland at these times was Swedish. The famous artist Ville Vallgren from Porvoo has made a statue of the emperor. The statue is now in the church. The church has burn down many times during the wars against Denmark and Russia.
These fires was in the years 1508, 1571, 1590 and 1708. During tha second world war 1941 a Russian aircraft bomb hit the church but no explosion happened. In year 2006 there was again a great fire and all the top of the church burned down. If you travel to Porvoo go to this very fine church I am sure that you will like it.

Unfortunately we were unable to go into the Cathedral but it's very nice to look at, quite different to many I've seen in Europe.

It's set in a lovely part of Porvoo with nice views of the area.

It’s a bit of a climb up a cobbled street to reach the Cathedral. However once you are there you are able to enjoy a magnificent view over the medieval town below. This is a part stone and part wooden building which suffered a serious fire in recent years. The fire damage has now been made good. Its quite dark inside but there is lots to see including a statue of Tsar Alexander I

It was worth the climb up the hill to reach the Cathedral and an even more enjoyable walk downhill after our visit.

The cathedral sits on top of the hill in Porvoo old town, even before a visitor enters the cathedral , the site gives one lovely views over the roofs of the old town and the river. The cathedral itself has been repaired after fires and wars etc but is a stunning site, and a great photo opportunity. The inside is equally as impressive, the stained glass windows are fantastic and the huge second floor organ is very impressive. Just take a few minutes to consider how many people have crossed the threshold over is many 100 of years existence.
