Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice seaside beach. Due to the lication in city centre and next to roads there are not many places with some privacy.

Families with small children like this beach; shallow water and less party oriented crowds make it more peaceful area. It is a smallish beach where old well maintained villas make it a very special setup. Winds can be chilly at times.

When Hanko was built nearly 150 years ago, many rich families established their villas along the Bellevue (French for beautiful view) beach and Appelgrenintie (the street going towards the harbors). They are all beautiful to watch and similar in spirit as maybe villas in Saltsjobaden, Heviz or Travemunde. The glorious era was from 1880s to 1920s. Most buildings are from the first 20 years.
But a s a walk, it is only roughly one kilometer one way and the views are beautiful. During high season there is a cafeteria and restaurant at the end of the walk. "The House of the Four Winds" is a white building with a red roof standing upon smooth granite rock. Bakeries and meals available.
If you can bear the rather cold water, the beach is child friendly as it is quite shallow, particularly the western side. And it is never as crowded as the next beach to the west, the Plagen Beach with the carousel. There is less seaweed in Bellevue because the beach is open to westerly winds.

Nice and very fine sand.. The water is clear and for young children perfect cause the water level is only about 30 cm deep for about 200 m. Not a lot of people on this beach
and If you go futher on the road you come to a very nice coffee place . The house of the 4 winds

visited last week of August - what Canada calls "summer". Not a soul on this beach and very few in town. We were told summer here is last week of June to 1st week of August. It was very cold so I guess they are right! Lots of abandoned facilities on the beach. We had a nice walk along the water, past the closed casino to a closed "winds" café. Might be very different in those few weeks when there are actually people in Hanko....

It was a little cool for me to go into the water (most people were happily enjoying it, though), but this is a very pretty beach. I spent a very relaxing hour or so just sitting and enjoying the view. The pine trees were quite nice.

Nice sand beach and a lot of old villas nearby to have a coffee or something to drink. One can walk/cycle about 2 km along sandy path to the north and find a small wooden cafe/restaurant in the north end of the beach.

Many restaurants, good food. Marina is great for sailing boats, and power boats. Annual Regatta is a big thin in July, Poker Run with a massive number of muscle boats competing in August. Tennis, and horses, golf, trips to the Archipelago, You name it.
