    Great experience, wonderful hosts
The reviews are 100% accurate. Alejandro and his whole family are warm and welcoming. The family property is beautiful with great vistas. The trail is well maintained, and you can swim at 3 of the 4 falls, each providing a different experience. Had to coax an iguana off of our pack after one swim! Enjoyed tasty casados and quesadillas afterwards, along with ice cold beer. We did the hike on our own but Alejandro showed us the petroglyphs (very cool) and chatted with us while we ate lunch. Great super-comfortable experience.

    Go check this place out!
One hundred percent recommend this experience! Meeting Alejandro and his family was just as awesome as enjoying the refreshing waterfalls. My favorite was number two as the water was deep and refreshing. We decided to have lunch afterwards and it was sooooo delicious. The trails down and up are well maintained and the drive to get to them is worth the admission price. It also felt great to support this family as they build a business to support themselves. If I lived here I would want to be friends with them. Just do it!

    Tropical oasis waterfall experience!
We had such a fantastic experience at the waterfall hike. Alejandro and his wife were extremely welcoming and accommodating to our two families. Alejandro guided us down the well-kept rainforest trail to the waterfalls and swam with us in the final waterfall. He was very helpful getting us to safety by foot and truck when a thunderstorm quickly appeared as we were trekking back up the trail. A most delicious mango (the best my husband ever had) was a great way to finish our adventure. My son said this was his favorite part of our Costa Rica trip! Thank you, Alejandro, for taking such good care of us!!

    The best of Costa Rica!!
This is one of the most beautiful places we have seen so far in Costa Rica. A nice hike brings you down to 4 waterfalls and at the last one you go into the pool and enjoy the freshness of the water. Not touristique and amazing views offered withe great hospitality of the farmer's family who owns the place.

    Highly recommend this beautiful spot
My family and I visited La Piedra del Indio Waterfalls in early August 2023. We pulled up to the restaurant, had time to change, and were very quickly escorted to the waterfalls themselves. When we got to the trail head, Alejandro asked if we preferred to go on our own or if we wanted him to accompany us. We did not hesitate to take him up on his offer and even though they offer the self-guided option, Take the guided tour! Alejandro was a wonderful guide. He educated us on the flora and the fauna of the region. He pointed out things that we would not have seen on our own. He shared stories from his childhood. Alejandro was a fun and informative guide and we appreciate that he and his family have opened up this beautiful spot to share with us.

    A Fortunate Day
On a drive from Santa Elena/Monteverde to Tenorio NP we came upon the falls tour. The area is owned and farmed by many of the same extended family and one group opened their land for the public to come and view some amazing falls. Alejandro and his family built a trail down a canyon for viewing and swimming. They planted extra flowers to attract butterflies and built sturdy steps and bridges to safely trek the area. The fee to enter ensures Alejandro's family can maintain the trails and raise their family, it is fortunate for the public to be allowed to see the falls and see some ancient rock carvings.

    Best activity in Costa Rica!
Very amazing experience! Sandra and Alejandro were very welcoming and helpful! We chose to do the guided horseback riding tour to the waterfalls and the experience was absolutely fantastic! The waterfalls are gorgeous (the hike is a little tough but very very worth it) and they even help you stand behind the falls which is a very cool experience. We even spotted some toucans and other animals and got some fresh watermelon! So much more worth it than going with a bigger tour company, would definitely recommend!

    Beautiful falls without crowds
This is a beautiful waterfall that is not crowded like so many. It had stunning multiple layers and a good path down, though the climb up was a bit hard for an older person. One can just go part way and still see some lovely falls. The family that runs this private area on their property is very happy to share this natural beauty with you and have it very well organized.

    Amazing!!
This was such a spectacular experience. It was our families favourite stop on our trip. Alejandro and his family have showcased the beauty of these falls in a really special way. We walked the 700m down to the bottom pool and went for a swim in the swimming hole. We came back up and Alejandro brought us back to reception where we had a really nice lunch with a beautiful view. Thank you so much for this wonderful afternoon!

    Nature at its BEST!
What a great find on our way from Monteverde to la Fortuna. We came upon a waterfall sign on the road and followed it to end up in paradise. One of the highlights of our trip as we were the only people there and had a wonderful experience hiking this well groomed trail. So natural and a best kept secret. It will change once it’s discovered 😢the family started their business just before COVID and struggled getting started but with this gem of an experience they will definitely find success. The property has been in the family for generations. Hopefully it will stay that way. We had fantastic smoothies after our hike and viewing the petroglyph.

An amazing tour hosted by Alejandro and his family. We felt so welcome and saw some amazing wildlife including monkeys, toucans and iguanas. Not rushed in the slightest and finished off with a lovely fresh coconut water. Would highly recommend. Thank you

There's a reason these are all 5 star reviews. We spent a month in Costa Rica, and this was our absolute highlight. We happened upon one of their handmade signs while en route from Montezuma to Arenal, and decided to break up the drive for our young kids. We got lucky with the falls all to ourselves (but it is regardless an incredible place to experience). The hike was easy (we had a 5 year old with us that we didn't have to carry), the water refreshing, and Alejandro and his family are so welcoming and helpful. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

My wife and I made the drive from Tronadora to La Piedra del Indio Waterfalls and it was totally worth the drive! Our host, Alejandro, was a fantastic host and guide, not just leading us down to the bottom of the incredible waterfalls but also a wealth of knowledge about the area and it's history, the various trees and other flora and the critters we encountered along the way. The views are stunning and we even saw a Bare Throated Tiger Heron nesting in a tree about 80 feet high. Once we made our way back up (after giving Alejandro a major scare when he thought I was having a heart attack!), he opened a couple of coconuts and gave us a taste of coconut water and then some of the meat of the coconut - wonderful! We then had a cold beer and hot lunch to put the perfect finishing touch on a great day. We highly recommend visiting this beautiful site and meeting Alejandro and his family, the 3rd generation of their family to settle on this land. Thanks for the great memories, Alejandro!

We stumbled across this hidden gem driving back to our AirB&B from MonteVerde. This family run business is full of the most genuine and kind people you could meet. We were given a ride through the rolling hills to the entrance of the waterfall hike. The hike is so beautiful and simplified by the steps put in over the terrain. We had a family of monkeys show us around haha. And a little hummingbird came to say hello too.
The WATERFALLS are stunning!! Alejandro kept us entertained with stories and showing us through the pools where tricky spots might be to step in the water and how to walk behind the falls. It was an absolute perfect way to end our day. The sun had started to set turning everything gold and lit up on our way back. A real life jungle book experience!!!

My husband and I first visited in January 2023. We were so in love with this place that we came back in 2024!! We stayed in Monteverde, only a 45-minute drive from there. We opted for the guided tour AGAIN through the waterfalls and horseback riding trails. I can honestly say that this was one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited!! The tour guide, Alejandro was the best! He was so patient and knowledgeable as he taught us so much about the history of the land, waterfalls, animals, flora, and fauna. The further you venture down the waterfall, the more expansive the views become, allowing you different views of the waterfall itself. This was only my second time riding a horse…initially, I was afraid, but he quickly made me comfortable and knew exactly which horse would take care of me 😊. So many unbelievably beautiful views…hard to pin down, which was my favorite. After we completed our tours, we had lunch in the reception area, where his wife had prepared a delicious meal for us. I can honestly say this was one of our favorite stops in Costa Rica. Unlike any other…we WILL return SOON! Not only
was the waterfall amazing, but the surrounding landscape was breathtaking from start to finish. During the time we spent there, we experienced such a warm feeling as if we were a part of the family. Each tour is individualized as Alejandro took his time to cater to the needs of each visitor. This was one of the most economical and exciting activities we have experienced in Costa Rica. We would DEFINITELY recommend this establishment… YOU WILL NOT REGRET!
Alejandro and family…until we meet again… PURA VIDA AMIGOS!!!

They welcomed us really warm. Not many people what we loved!
To them you can make it with a normal car (we did it) but you need to be careful. After you need a 4x4 but they will offer you a lift to where the trail starts and also a tour if you want.
The hike isn't to long but you can see four waterfalls. After or before you can also have some drinks or food. We haven't tried the food but what we saw looked good.
