Very expensive (nearly $60 for 2 adults and 2kids) for a look at 4 waterfalls. Yes, pretty but no way you could swim under them as was suggested at the booking office -left our 12 and 10year olds very disappointed. Fairly dangerous too....drive down a very bumpy track to wet, poorly maintained paths with broken handrail posts. Some parts unpassable. We were so disappointed, wish we hadn't bothered stopping. Cafe at the office also very expensive for what it was.

La Fortuna waterfall was a much better experience.

If i could give zero stars, I would. 4 unimpressive waterfalls for 17US$.
Requires you to drive down 10min a very narrow path to the parking space. From there steps go down to the waterfalls steps to the third and fourth fall were in such bad shape that my parents didn’t dare to go down.

This was my favorite thing that I have done throughout my two months in Costa Rican! It is so beautiful with 4 gorgeous waterfalls. It is hidden and when we were there, we did not see anyone else! You get to see 4 waterfalls for only $12. It was definitely the best deal that we have had in Costa Rica! Great swimming and views. I highly recommend!

We took a wrong turn and found this gorgeous park with 4 waterfalls. We hike down to 3 if them. The 3rd one, Rainbow Falls, has a swimming hole that is gorgeous and refreshing. You need 4 wheel drive to get to the parking area, and it’s a steep hike. But it’s so worth it !

A group of us made a visit to the waterfalls during our visit to CR. There are a total of 5 waterfalls on property. The day we went we did not see anyone else until we were almost finished hiking back up so it is not touristy at all.

This hike is not for the faint of heart, the way is steep and there are spots where the handrails are falling down or are nonexistent. Do not do this hike if you are not in good shape physically as it is challenging but it was truly beautiful. Young children should not attempt this nor should anyone who is not steady on their feet. We didn't see a lot of wildlife during our visit, except for a big coral snake (the dangerous kind) and a couple of iguanas. It would of been nice to stop and swim but we didn't plan enough time so if you are interest in swimming I would have the guide give you a minimum of two hours.

I took my two kids (aged 7 and 9). The waterfalls are very nice, but the steps and handrails to access them get progressively more poorly maintained and more dangerous. I would not recommend going beyond the rainbow waterfall - we tried and had to turn back. There are multiple points at which a kid could pretty easily slip and have a fall with serious consequences (like far down into the rushing water), and it would be hard to raise an alarm if that happened.

The entrance fee is excessive for what's on offer - really it's pure profiteering. If a little were spent on upkeep and safety, it would be fine, but it does not appear to be.

Also note that they make a big deal on how close the waterfalls are to each-other and completely omit to mention the height difference/amount of going up or down steps (or the fairly demanding car access). Just be prepared - it's steep and exposed in a couple of places.

I wouldn't bother stopping by when travelling between Monteverde and Fortuna - there are better things to do at either end.

Moderately challenging hike but very doable for someone with reasonable physical fitness. Amazing experience of being IN the rainforest. We saw about 15 monkeys including a mama with her baby on her back! Tons of enormous beautiful spiders, so be on the lookout for their webs. As others have mentioned the drive down to the trailhead from the restaurant is a bit frightening but our rental with AWD took it quite well. Wear sneakers or sturdy shoes! Bathroom at the 3rd falls had toilet paper and a robust flush ;). Everything well maintained but the trail is tricky. We enjoyed the challenge but it is not for people with mobility issues. We highly recommend this hike! One of the best ones we’ve done so far just because of all the amazing plants and animals. We did not swim because it was a chilly day and the water at the third falls looked...churning. We saw one other party of 2 during our visit.

Beautiful waterfalls! Our guide took us there on the way from La Fortuna to Monteverde. We paid an entry fee of 16.00 USD (approx. 13.00 GBP), I think.. and then were taken down a very bumpy road in a 4x4 to where an arduous trek to the falls begins. This short drive was included in the entry fee and was a return.

The trail is steep and narrow - be prepared to do some steps! If you are scared of spiders, I suggest you skip this activity.....

The three waterfalls are located sort of consecutively - you go down to the first one.. more steps lead you down to the second one.. and more steps down again to the third one where you can swim, I believe. There was also the fourth one in the distance, but we decided to go back as it started raining heavily.

Good thing that there was just another couple apart from ourselves, and no-one else. One of the delights of travelling during the off-season!

If you need to regain some energy after your trek, there is a soda (restaurant) where you can a bite to eat.

Would I recommend visiting this place? Most certainly, good exercise and really nice views!

We stopped here on our way to Monteverde ( we didn't make it to Monteverde.) We loved it so much that we decided to spend the whole days enjoying the falls. We were a group of 5 and only saw 2 other people our whole day there. It was magical!. If you go definitely walk all the way back to the last fall- Slide falls ( I believe was the name ) it was the furthest away but we were able to play in the bottom of the falls. You do need to take at least a liter or more of water. The hike can be strenuous with all of the steps but we just took our time.

We stopped here on our drive from La Fortuna to Santa Elena. Use the Ways App on your phone and you find it. It is privavtely owned so you go into restaurant and pay and get maps. The road to the parking area is very rough. The stairs to walk to the waterfall are uneven. So if you have trouble with normal stairs, this is not for you! I went with my 2 teenagers and we had the place to ourselves. Fun to explore. We did not go to the La Fortuna waterfall so I cannot compare. However, this is five falls for all the walking and no other tourists!
