Amazing location for a day trip, just a short boat ride away from Drake Bay. Good likelihood of seeing some sealife (dolphins, turtles, etc.) on the trip out. Also ask around if you can snorkel in the area around the island, as there is a decent amount of reef in the area. Oh, and this was a core inspiration for... More

Pachecho Tours did a great job boating us out to this pristine island but the snorkeling left a lot to be desired. However, we did see two sand sharks, a sting ray and swam with a turtle.

A short (~ one hour) boat ride. Good visibility. Water temperature was warm enough you did not need a wet suit.

We went to Caño Islands after seeing a breathtakingly beautiful video at Gringo Curt's and hearing locals describe it as "the small Cocos islands". For reference: we went from Drake Bay and booked snorkeling with Drake Divers according to Curt's recommendation. In his video you see a lonely boat with six happy, life vest-less snorkelers chasing gorgeous fish left right... More

We went on a trip here to snorkel which was arranged by our hotel. We set off early and were here around 7am, but by 8am there were around 6 other boats in the area. The island is protected and although you can come to shore (we did), there are no facilities and you can't go beyond the beach. It... More

Did a snorkeling tour at this island. The visibility on the day we went was miserable and there were lots of snorkelers, 100+ all snorkeling in a small area of the coastline. Apparently it is a law that you must snorkel with a life preserver on! So, it is impossible to free dive to get a closer look at things.... More

We were privileged to visit this island from a distance as it is a protected site. We were able to visit the reef and rocks around it by boat from La Paloma Lodge.

We went on this snorkel tour with Pirates' Cove and a great guide called Gabriel, if memory serves. They picked us up by boat early in the morning at our lodge and brought us out to Caño, where we had two dives with a snack break on the island in between. The underwater sites were beautiful: lots of interesting fish... More

Well I booked myself on tour for snorkling and some beach time on Cano Island - except our group was told we're not allowed to be on the island! Only 2 park rangers who live there are allowed , so that was a bit of a surprise. The waters around it are not that clear but you could see the... More
