By all means take the Red Rock Scenic Byway, if possible. There are wonderful views of red rocks that have been sculpted over the centuries by wind and water.

Stunning views of red rock mountains. Lots of pull offs and viewpoints and trail heads. The road itself is also very well marked and maintained. The roundabouts make the traffic flow.

From the second you turn off of the interstate you are treated to breath taking views of the red rock county. I love all the turnabouts along the way it does help keep traffic moving.

Don't expect much in the way of signs from Phoenix on I17 heading north to Sedona. They seem to treat it like it doesn't exist for some reason. The only signage for Sedona is just prior to the exit and right off the exit... More
