The Sedona Heritage Museum presents the history of the Sedona area, from...

The Sedona Heritage Museum presents the history of the Sedona area, from post-Civil War days to the present. Located in Jordan Historical Park, the Museum is composed of 3 historic landmark buildings, a tent house replica, and a restored movie set building; exhibits of pioneer mementos, farm equipment, historic photos, and more can be found throughout the buildings and along the pathways of the park.

Besides an encounter with history, it's a great place for a picnic lunch. And the beauty of Sedona's red rocks makes it a perfect location for a wedding ceremony.

This tells us the brief settlement history of the Sedona area. They have stories of the original 'white' settlers and many cute and fascinating items these settlers used. There needs to be more interactive elements and at least something about the Native American's in the area. But what of the conflicts (other than smelter conflicts).... family rivalries.... and the natural... More

Thanks for this great review. There are indeed many more stories to tell! We try to feature these in our special exhibits which change throughout the year. (We are currently working on a "Downwinders" exhibit.) Thanks for the input & hope you can make it back sometime for more. More

My husband and I enjoyed visiting the museum and talking with the docents. They were knowledgable about the area history, The ingenuity of the early settlers is amazing considering they didn't have the technology we have today.

I work in the museum field so I always look for local sites like this. The first building you can tour is the Telegraph office, which was used in the John Wayne film, Angel and the Badman. Going over to the house, you learn about the Jordan family, early settlers in Sedona. It's a self-guided tour, but you are surrounded... More

Away from the crowds and tourist destinations, found this museum to be very well done, informative and interesting, giving insight into the settlement of Sedona, the challenges and impact on the area. Displays, audio tour, grounds are great. I totally enjoyed the time we spent there.

We loved the museum and her caretakers. It helped us understand the history of Sedona and the area. It is like a time capsule back in time. The museum is rather small but is packed with great stories, photos, antiques, and memorabilia from the earliest settlers of the Red Rock and Sedona area. It even features early examples of barbed wire and how this invention altered ranching. Very informative!

The docents who work at the museum love what they do. They were happy to tell us stories about the buildings and people who lived there so long ago. It was a nice hour of rest just quietly looking and observing the many pieces of memorabilia

The grounds are lovely. The museum is in an old building, quaint and interesting. We only had a short tome to breeze through and will return to peruse in depth. There is a nominal entrance fee and parking was plentiful.
