Does not start out strenuous however the last ten minutes or so you will began to take a more vertical route that is the only trouble spot for maybe people who are not accustomed to the elevation level or balance ... the view is ridiculous...More

The Boynton Canyon is a pretty red rock area. A parking pass is needed to park. We could see this from miles away--it stands out as a very deep red in the landscape of red rocks.

We only did a portion of this trail. The part we did, near Enchantment was well maintained and offered quite a bit of shade. We heard that the trail becomes challenging toward the end - we would have gone, but had to leave beautiful Sedona...More

BCT starts out pretty crowded most days. Many are just going to the Kachina area which is only about 15 minutes from the parking lot. Then you go past a huge resort, Enchantments. Forgetting about the resort and focusing on the right hand side of...More

This is a nice hike from Enchantment Resort - through the wooded glade and then suddenly breaking out to a surprising vista. Cooler in the glades then warm on the upper rock

The hikes around Sedona are exhilarating and the hike to Boynton Vortex was no exception. Rugged, beautiful landscape with amazingly varied plants. You must pay attention to where you put your feet when climbing - particularly when coming back down the trail. Sitting at the...More

This is a longer hike, but worth it. You go through forest and beautiful bright green leaf trees (Spring). It gets a little steep at the end, but don't miss out on the end of trail view. Get there anyway you can.

We didn't do the entire trail. We stopped off at the vista with the vortex. Really great views from up there. We also found a separate path and climbed up to the other vortex. So peaceful. We even ran into the local guy that hangs...More

We liked this trail for our initial day. It's easy, and it's important to acclimate to the altitude and energy prior to more difficult hikes. We did not go to the end, but we didn't really care for the extent of the resort area into...More

If you go there during a national holiday, there is no fee to park. The same is true for any national park. However, the airport mesa parking fee will still be $3.00 no matter what day you go.
