This canyon has great hiking, it's teeming with wildlife and spectacular views. The best way to get there is by way of Douglas, AZ, because the roads paved, a lot of Arizona's marked roadways aren't paved.

This area is truly beautiful and it makes for a very scenic drive. A variety of trails are available. The visitor center which is run by volunteers has very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful raised relief map showing the whole area and the topography. Many...More

This is an excellent area for nature study, but you'll want to bring sturdy hiking shoes. The trail from the parking lot requires fording of the stream and is too rough for handicapped travel.

We visited at the tail end of high season and there were not crowds, almost no traffic and very few campers. It was quiet, beautiful ( but not rewarding this time of year for the rarities I was searching for ...)

Since I don't walk very well, we just drove through and looked at all the beautiful rock formations and visited the Ranger Station and had a nice visit with John and Tim. We saw some beautiful reptiles there on display.

It was a great place to meet other birders who share what they saw and helped us to complete our list.

We went in March and there was very little in the bird viewing arena, but there is amazing scenery in this area and a great place to visit for everyone that appreciates the outdoors.

Cave Creek Canyon isn't on your way to anywhere, out in the "middle of nowhere" basin-&-range country on the AZ / NM border. But for birding, camping, hiking & simply relaxing it's a destination unto itself. Beautiful, burbling Cave Creek flows down this mostly narrow...More

A beautiful peaceful area in southern Arizona. Quaint buildings, beautiful canyons and trails. The Chiricahuas are one of the wonderful 'sky islands' in this area north of the border

This is one of the best areas for sightseeing, birding, hiking and relaxation. We camped and enjoyed every minute of it. Clean, well kept campsites surrounded by beautiful trees and the canyon walls. Many great birding spots can be found in the canyon and nearby.

The Trogon that frequents Patagonia Lake State Park left about two months early this spring... So it's an unusual year. If I were you I'd call the Forest Service or any of the B&Bs in the area; they'll definitely know if... More
