Only after we arrived at this site after a 30-min drive did we find out it was closed (or just to public view). The property was fenced in and screened off. We didn’t see any signage of an entrance or tour. A property for sale sign stood adjacent to the property on Rubicon Street. Confusing. I was glad to be able to at least “steal a look” through the fence. What a shame to hide an architectural gem!

I was able to visit the house as part of a special architecture tour activity going on in Phoenix. Classic Wright architecture, but the house itself is very small especially for a group tour (more than 10). The grounds are very spacious and currently have sculpture from a Japanese artist. The entire property is screened off and you must enter from a church parking lot on Camelback.

The house is now surrounded by hording screens along the street. The best you get is a glimpse of it through a gap in the hording gate. Not sure if its being renovated or what.

Every time we want to go to this house it is not open. Could not find a list of days it is open and times. I guess it is hit and miss.

The ingenious design of Frank Lloyd Wright for his son David, a slump block salesman created a magical wonder of roundness out of 8x4x16 slump blocks, including their original swimming pool currently concealed & covered with dirt and grass...all out of slump block and the magical wood treatments and lighting only a genius could have created!
