This park is a treasure! We stumbled onto it when visiting the Japanese Friendship Gardens next to it and returned with grandchildren who said they want to live at the park. There are pavilions, swings and rolling lawns to picnic on but the biggest attraction for my grandkids was the play area with the giant animal climbing structures, the climbing rock wall, the spider web netting and monkey bars, the dragonfly teeter totter and the white sand pit. We could have stayed for hours (or forever) because there is so much to do! This park is now on our list of favorite parks in Phoenix!

Park centrally located just north of downtown Phoenix. The Phoenix main library is adjacent to the park. It looks to be well maintained. I do have an issue
with the lack of water fountains(I only found one working one).

Recommended.

Great place to have a party, however we reserved it and once we got there the gate was locked and we could not get hold of anyone to open it. It horrible because we had everything ice chests food and drinks for our granddaughters birthday. So of course it wasn’t the best day. Pure disappointment for everyone there.

Our grandson needed to get out and let off some steam. What a better place than a park with climbing and water features. Right downtown is a fairly recently developed park. It’s pretty neat. First off there are three great big animal playthings (an Owl, a Fox and bunny rabbit) and a mist garden (a concrete area with water misters located in the concrete). Our grandson loved climbing into the animal playthings. And he especially liked running around on top of all the misters. He got pretty darn wet. But loved it!

We went here for the Phoenix Festival of the Arts. Free entry and free parking. 170 vendors selling art such as ceramics, paintings, jewelry, glass and bronze sculptures.
There was live music and entertainment. There was a children’s “circus area” where they could play with stilts, hula hoops and balancing. Food vendors and port a potties were also available. Great place for singles, couples and families. It was a nice day for a walk, snacks and music listening. Also lots of free street parking.

If your new to PHX this is the Go-to-Park to get a real feel for downtown phoenix. It's pack with tons of activities all the time, plus the Japanese Tea Garden. its a great place just to walk around the surrounding area. Enjoy the food trucks on most events or the surrounding local restaurants. It's interesting that it is on top of the deck park tunnel with heavy traffic flowing thru on I-10 below for a half-mile in either direction. A FUN & SAFE place to explore, lots of security guards in area for your protection.

I regularly walk my dog through the park at night. We start at the dog park, which is fantastic. Most dog parks are blue collar and there tend to be dog fights. The owners at Hance Park are upscale and young and are more responsible. They do their best to stop fights before they happen. Still, my lab is good for 15 minutes and then she wants to go. That's because the park is popular with the lunchtime crowd, and food scraps are everywhere. There is a condo nearby with a water feature great for cooling off. And there is a great skateboard area. There is often music at night. And the homeless we have encountered have all been harmless. Best park ever for labs.

There is access to this park from Central Avenue but I felt uncomfortable as I entered the park as there were a bunch of unsavory types camped out on the stairs of the south side. I hurried along and ignored their calls. The park is mostly green space with one playground and the Japanese Friendship Garden in one corner. Worth a visit but be sure to go in the day time.
