This was the first time that we visited St. Mary's Basilica, for any reason, beyond a memorial service. In this case, we had friends into town, and attended services there. I had forgotten (or maybe not noticed), how lovely this church is. We had a lovely service, and hope to return, and not just for memorial services for friends.

Great place to pray and real nice Christian Community. The surroundings of the church are very clean. The Church is in the middle of the Downtown Phoenix. A gem.

If you can deal with the parking this is definitely worth a short stop. Lovely inside with interesting architecture.

This was a rare find, we stumbled upon. Fairly plain on the outside, the inside was incredible. Go in and enjoy the art and stained glass. Stop and see the kneeler that Pope John Paul II used when he made this a minor Basilica.

It feels like an historic cathedral, but Phoenix isn't old enough for it to have that kind of history. It is a peaceful refuge in what is a particularly secular city compared with San Francisco or Santa Fe for example. Slip in from the bustle and enjoy a peaceful moment with your inner self.

The gardens next to the basilica also offer a place of tranquility in downtown Phoenix. Of course, the basilica, itself, is also worth seeing. ;) The gift shop is very small--maybe 150 square feet; but it has a wide selection of religiously-oriented merchandise.

A Beautiful Basilica right in the middle of Phoenix. Have actually gone there since I was a little kid. It is very old and ornate. Even if you are not Catholic or religious it is a place to see.

I was blessed to attend Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation at this church while I was visiting Phoenix for a conference. It is beautiful inside and out. Quiet, peaceful, a great spot for reflection and contemplation. The gardens and paths outside are also just spectacular, an oasis in the city. What a beautiful church.

We were looking for parking for Heritage Square when we found St. Mary's. Decided to go in and visit, then realized mass was about to begin (Noon weekday mass). The service was very nice and the church is beautiful, a must see for catholic families.
