About
Arizona has long been an oasis for those seeking the healing properties of the desert, including Delos Cooke who, in the 1920’s, constructed the Royal Palms estate in Phoenix’s warm and restorative climate as a wellness retreat for his wife Florence. Decades later, Royal Palms remains a respite offering relaxation and restoration for body and soul. From the organic therapies, massages, and Mediterranean modalities at Forbes Four-Star Alvadora Spa to daily yoga and tai chi classes in the Alegria Garden, our resort remains committed to wellness. A heated Jacuzzi hot tub and 24-hour access to the swimming pool and exercise facility allow you to maintain fitness at your leisure.

Great spa day

Wow! Love this spa! The resort grounds are so beautiful! Lush landscape and beautiful architecture. The spa itself felt very private and luxurious. The staff was exceptional and every detail was thoughtfully provided. My massage with Jennifer was perfect and just what I’d hoped for. We enjoyed roaming between the jacuzzi, eucalyptus room, relaxation areas and the pool. The pool is set just below camelback mountain with stunning views. I cannot wait to go back.

Very Nice Massage
Dec 2018
While on a business stay-cation at the Royal Palms Resort, I took the opportunity to visit their Alvadora Spa for a massage, while my wife was in meetings from dawn until quite late each evening. Since we had been traveling a great deal, this seemed to be just the ticket, and it was.

I got the Alvadora Custom Massage for 100 mins, and both the therapist and the treatment room were excellent. Though we were at the resort for two days, I did not take advantage of any of the other facilities at the Alvadora Spa, so cannot comment on any other treatments.

The overall facility is showing signs of wear and tear, but is still attractive, and serene.

The only downside was that while I was having my massage, my wife was in meetings, and could have used one, even more than I did.

If we are ever back at the Royal Palms, I will make it up to her, with a 100 min Couples’ Massage, and likely add in a facial for her.

Alvadora was my first spa experience many years ago and they I have tried many spas since but they all pale in comparison to Alvadora. I recently returned again on vacation and was not disappointed. Again, the best facial I’ve ever had. Wonderful, professional service, highest quality products, clean and relaxing atmosphere. The prices are high but I find it to be a good match to the quality.

Lovely facial and nice atmosphere

I enjoyed my experience yesterday at Alvadora Spa the location was very relaxing and Amy who performed my facial was friendly and did a great job. I’m surprised by some of the reviews commenting on the facility being dirty or neglected as I feel the Resort is clean and I enjoy the historical and rustic charm at The Royal Palms. This spa is a little pricey yes but nothing you wouldn’t expect from a resort spa. I was informed about service fees prior to booking my facial and I had also read on the menu about extra charges when ordering lunch yesterday as well. If you aren’t expecting those fees it can be a shock but from my experience from other spas or resorts is that they do it to ensure their employees are adequately tipped for their services as people at times can low-ball tips for service which impacts the wages of employees who historical depend upon the tips.

Spa is a disgrace to the rest of the property
Apr 2018 • Friends
The Royal Palms is one of the most beautiful properties in the Scottsdale (Phoenix) area. I've been to this property for several private events for business as well as pleasure and I have a fond appreciation for its history and architecture. I decided to experience the Alvadora Spa at this property for the first time and without sounding cruel, I just don't understand how so many obvious things were overlooked at this property! It was horrid! Are all of the spa & pool employees on auto-pilot with difficulty seeing? Honestly does the SPA DIRECTOR not see this??? Allow me to explain; (1) the woman at the front desk upon 10:00am arrival was super grumpy (2) we had several bags with us and she gives us the smallest lockers (really?) (3) although the eucalyptus steam room smelled amazing, the tiles were literally falling off the walls with black crud and some nasty yellowed rubber mats on the floor (sick) (4) the tiny outdoor hot tub in the women's locker room was filled with seaweed from the tree droppings and I cut my foot on the massive amounts of SHARP grout and concrete on the floor of the hot tub (I question if the tub is ever cleaned)? (5) the air filters in all areas of the spa were so DIRTY they were "furry" and clumps of dust were falling from them (sick). (6) at the pool, the outdoor furniture cushions were so COVERED in bird droppings at the cafe that I hesitated sitting down (maybe invest in an umbrella?) (6) the pool cafe menu was awful, no creativity or love there (7) pool attendants were pre-occupied and not attentive. (8) my FACIAL was awful and goes down as the WORST facial ever for me. I didn't even receive a face, neck or scalp massage or rub. TERRIBLE. (9) The tiny patio by the tiny hot tub in the women's locker room was a mess, fireplace not lit, again filled with leaves and bird droppings. The best thing about this "spa day" was smelling the real jasmine growing in the foyer courtyard and the spa robes were the best robes I've ever experienced, however in AZ they are a little to heavy/warm. My advice to the SPA DIRECTOR is this, although the property is old, that doesn't give it permission to be dirty and overlook the details of overall housekeeping, grounds keeping and service. You can buy furnace filters at Home Depot for $2.99 and in the steam room 3x6 white tile for .12 cents a piece. This spa is a disgrace to the rest of the property. What a shame.

Pricey but wonderful facial
Apr 2018 • Solo
I received a wonderful custom facial from Tammy. I recommend her. She was informing, asked me questions, but allowed the experience to be relaxing !! My skin felt so refreshed after. Front desk staff was wonderful as well. I took one star away due to price. It was a great facial but not worth $165. You pay for the location and the rest of spa amenities. So if getting a service at spa - allow more time for sauna and jacuzzi.

Nice place, expensive

Very nice spa with pool access. The beautician who did my facial was pretty good and helpful, but then again it's the typical putting every product down except for the product/s they sell. Service at reception just about average in my opinion.
Price on the high side.
Service at the pool very good, and so was the food.

Cannot justify the price tag

Was visiting Scottsdale & my normal Spa was under reno. This is closeby, called to make sure that they could accommodate my needs for a deep tissue massage. They assured me that they had the perfect person. The staff were all very nice. I used the gym prior to my appt, which was big enough to do the job. The spa itself was pretty old, but that's ok. I was brought back to my treatment room & the sound of the landscapers was pretty loud & not relaxing at all. The massage person was nice but I kept asking her to use more pressure and it was like she couldn't or wouldn't. HUGE waste of almost $300. Not happy with that & won't be back.
