South Mountain Park is beautiful and this is a popular trailhead. Though parking was crowded, it wasn’t as bad as we expected. You’ll wait for some people but it’s still pleasant. If crowds really annoy you, go on a weekday. First mile is mostly uphill and moderately strenuous. Saw families with kids and grandparents making it. Middle section we took Hidden Valley Loop which was less busy and had a couple cool rock features. Would definitely go again.

Great hike, but crowded...and very few people wearing masks. Big groups of out of shape people huffing and puffing, and yapping.

Hiked this trail on a Sunday afternoon and it was very busy! The first portion is a pretty good uphill hike and takes about an hour. From there you can continue to fat man’s pass or hidden valley tunnel... either way it is a loop so you don’t miss any of the beauty! We went toward hidden valley tunnel first, and realized most people were going against us. The views are beautiful! The rock formations, tunnels are amazing! There are some areas where you will be climbing rocks or sliding down them but it is all doable! Took my husband and I just over 2 hours to make the 4.25 mile loop. There were a lot of kids out there too.

A great areas for hiking. Nothing difficult. There are a multitude of trails in this area, many interconnected, so you can make a hike longer or shorter anytime you’re there. Wildflowers can be great, good views and always good exercise. Check out Fatmans Pass! As always be hydrated and carry water.

This was a nice trail going up the mountain with views of the city. The best part of the hike was the hidden valley trail loop which included a tunnel and fat man's squeeze (which was hilarious watching some people go through).
