Mount Lemmon is so neat, all the fabulously shaped rocks/boulders/trees. When it's hot in Tucson, locals drive up to Mount Lemmon on the awesome highway. I stop and take pictures and maybe take a picnic. Bring water of course, and a hat. It's really cooler there and if you go, you will have a lovely drive and a lovely day.... More

The Santa Catalina Mountains rise from the Tucson Valley floor to 9157 feet in elevation. Driving to the top you will pass through desert scrub all of the way to subalpine vegetation biomes. This is the equivalent of driving from Tucson all of the way into Canada as far as the the types of plants that you will see. A... More

Drove up Mount Lemmon Highway to view the breathtaking views of the Santa Catalina Mountains with family from out of state. This is definitely an experience that should not be overlooked on your Tucson vacation 'to do' list. Restaurants at the top of Mount Lemmon provide delicious food choices or picnic tables throughout the 28 mile drive are perfect for... More

Loved seeing the five different ecosystems as I went up the mountain. Pictures do not did it justice because there are many glorious areas to view as you go up the mountain. It is approx. 30 miles. If you want to bike it, there were plenty who were doing it. I started at 9:30 and took my time going up... More

This drive ends at the most southern ski area in North America. Starts in high desert, proceeds through interesting rock formations, pine forests and ends at the gate to Mt Lemmon Observatory and a ski area. Restaurant at the parking area. Small town just before the end with a small store. Plenty of pull out observation areas. Take a couple... More

While you don't need a map to enjoy the views, the app is unbelievable. With it you can get information on the rocks, trees, views, weather, and history. The neatest thing is the scientific information which helps you to appreciate what you are seeing. It is an hour on the phone and so detailed about what you see that you... More

Fantastic views, huge changes in topography and plant life. Big temperature swing 82 F vs 54F. Lot's of snow on top of Mt Lemon.

Visited in January. There were lots of scenic views. There wasn't much snow so it was a nice ride. Worth the trip!

Loved seeing the landscape transform from cactus to snow covered pines as the elevation soared! A lovely day trip and lunch at the top was the frosting on the cake.
