I thought this was going to be cheesy but turned out to be a lot of fun and educational. You can step in to a lot of the exhibits and get some fun photos. We were a bit rushed to try to get through all of the presentations but you could easily spend 1.5 to 2 hours here.

The museum is conveniently located on the main street of town. We were initially attracted to the museum's building by a woman singing opera from the second floor balcony. Also, the building's exterior is decorated with several sea-related statues. Inside the museum, history of the area and the native peoples is presented chronologically using settings and an audioguide. The exhibits are on 2 floors of the building. We actually thought the entire museum was better than we expected.…

Quaint bar and restaurant decorated in yesteryear memorabilia. A look out the window and you overlook the prisoner museum. The life is decorated like a prison cell. Great cold beer.

This museum is a must see in Ushuaia. It covers the entire timeline from the native population, the discovery by Europeans, the establishment of the Anglican mission, Charles Darwin visit all the way to present days. Free audio-guide is excellent. It is also great for children
