We work with small groups of up to 18 passengers in a familiar and friendly environment with the company of professional Spanish and English speaking guides.
The excursions are carried out with the "KAMS and" TELIENKA "yachts, twin vessels of 15 meters in length, which due to their dimensions allow a maximum approach to the islands allowing preferential sightings.
During our tour we visit Isla Alicia, Isla de Pájaros and Isla de Lobos, where we make very close sightings of the fauna of the Beagle Channel. We know the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse built in 1919, a true emblem of the City of Ushuaia. At the end, we disembark at Bridges Island to walk a path of interpretation of flora and birds, telling the story of the Yámanas aborigines. Here are the largest Yámana anthropogenic shells in the region.
It also has a panoramic point from where we can observe the magnificence of the Beagle Channel with the City of Ushuaia in the distance.

We came and went through this bay on our cruise ship as we traveled to Antarctica. The landscape is lovely and we hung out on deck to see it all.

This wide bay just north of Beagle Channel is the water gateway to Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city, which sits on the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. The rugged Martial Mountains and Glacier Martial are just a few kilometers north (see my review, "The easy way or the hard way?"). Busy Beagle Channel is south (see my review, "Atlantic-Pacific link"). The bay itself is picturesque, with small boats anchored in it and large cruise ships docked at the pier (along with smaller expedition boats headed for Antarctica). TIPS: * For nice pictures of the bay, go to Ushuaia Aeroclub, south across the bay from the cruise ship pier, or go to the Ushuaia Sign at the western side of Bahia Encerrada in downtown Ushuaia (see my review, "Words with friends").

We sailed into the bay and the views were exceptional. The water is very clear and looking to land you have a terrific view towards the Andes. You can book a number of boar charters, some more expensive than others so watch out. Use the Tourist Information Centre as guide. We liked the pretty town and walking along the front for a couple of hours.

We arrived and left via a cruise ship but truly enjoyed our wildlife tour of the bay on a catamaran. We cruised past the Isla de los Pajaros (Bird Island) and Isla de los Lobos (Sea Lion Island). We mostly saw cormorants and sea lions but also saw some other birds. We went as far as Faro del Fin del Mundo Les Eclaireures -- the Lighthouse at the End of the World.

This is a beautiful bay to cruise thru with gorgeous snow capped mountains as a backdrop. There are many small lighthouses on several small islands in the bay. Ushuaia is the gateway town for going to Antarctica cruises and expeditions. You'll probably see several high end SIX STAR cruise ships (very expensive) in port. BOTTOM LINE: Cruise ships coming from Punta Arenas Chile through the Beagle Channel need to make a big loop to get into the bay. MY RATING: 8/10
