As a whole, Argentina is slowly getting over its obsession with the Falklands and the foolhardy 1982 war that the military junta provoked. But in Tierra del Fuego, nationalist sentiment remains strong; there is a sign at the cruise ship dock asserting that the Falklands...More

We were able to find lots of tourist purchases in Ushuaia. The Plaza and the artesanl market, plus the women's wool shop, were all treats for us.

The other side to the Falklands conflict. A moving memorial to those Argentines that lost their lives during the conflict. The photo boards around the memorial are in Spanish and English and are interesting to read.

Really moving monument that represents those who were part of the Falklands war. An eternal flame on the waterfront is particularly moving.

This is worth seeing if you are in the area and can drive by. There really is not much to see though.

This large sculptured memorial for those Argentinians, and particularly those lost on the General Belgrano cruiser which sailed from Ushuaia, who died during the 1982 Malvinas war is located along the waterfront not far from the cruise ship wharf. The sculpture is rectangular in shape...More
