If learning about the culture and history of your travel destination is important to you, then partaking in a guided horseback trip with Carol Jones is going to be an unforgettable experience. A person that exudes a warm and caring persona right off the bat, Carol has the makings for an excellent guide. First, her knowledge of the area is in her blood. She is the granddaughter of United States Patagonian founding father, Jarred Jones. A character that ran with the likes of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Grandpa Jones was the beginning of generations of familial bonding with the Patagonian Steppe. Second, the woman knows the area like the back of her hand. She is able to take her guests on amazing adventures into areas that are only seen by her and those she has invited. Her intimacy is immediately apparent in how she flows with the changing topography and chooses a place to rest. Third, as a part of the trip, she and her ranch hands provide a truly authentic “gaucho experience”. You are able to tour her family’s farm, interact with the animals and get involved with the Argentine asado (BBQ), if you like. Carol takes clients on multi-, full- and half-day trips. She is very adept at reading your abilities and level of comfort upon the horse and directs the day to fit the vibe accordingly. Experiencing Patagonia on horseback with Carol is an amazing adventure of animal interaction, historical stories and authentic culture.

We booked a full day ride with Carol a month before we arrived in Bariloche in January 2017. Carol met us on time outside the cathedral in town along with 6 other people going on the ride. The estancia is about a 20 minute drive out of town, close to the National Park. We had a couple of advanced riders... More

We couldn't be happier with our ride with Carol, her gauchos and their wonderful horses. It is hard to beat the beauty of the ranch and the surrounding Nahuel Huapi National Park with stunning views of Mt. Tronador and surrounding range, but the personal attention and care taken for every detail of our trip really made our ride a special... More

Carol Jones is super! We spent a 1/2 day trip with her - which turned out to become longer than expected. We had 3 experienced riders, and one 7-year old novice. Carol was wonderful, her horses just the sweetest, and it was a unique and fun experience for all. Crossing streams, riding up hills and through the steppe - just... More

my daughter and i went horseback riding with carol and a few other people for a full day. it was a very enjoyable outing. we rode across a beautiful landscape, accompanied by a wonderful dog who flushed 2 deer out of the bushes (a rather scary experience as it spooked a few of the horses). we had a nice asado... Such a memorable experience! The landscape was incredible and the food at the asado was delicious. After contacting Carol through her website, she was very communicative and helpful via email. Her logistics instructions were clear (meet at the south door of the cathedral for pickup, bring payment in cash, etc.) and helpful (wear layers, bring/wear sunscreen and a hat, etc.).... More

After reading great reviews and finding Carol Jones in Lonely Planet, we booked a "full-day" tour with Carol Jones. We were sad to realize that she had outsourced to her son the day we booked, and we had a very different and frustrating experience. We were picked up at 9am in town and driven to the ranch, which is a... More

My partner and I booked a two day horse riding trip with Carol at the beginning of December this year. It's been the highlight of our trip and a unique experience. I don't want to say too much and spoil other people's experience but expect great food, incredible scenery and a completely customer centered service. Bring warm clothes and a... More

Our late November beginners horseback riding experience with Carol could not have been better. The ride was easy and relaxing with beautiful views of snow-peaked mountains, rolling prairie-like hills, and the occasional deer, cow and bull seen wandering around. Carol clearly knows what she's doing. The ranch was beautiful and the lunch was the most authentic Argentinian asado we had... More

We did a half day ride with Carol on her private working ranch. What an enjoyable day! We were lucky to have sunny skies providing perfect riding weather. Carol's horses are lovely - very calm and nice for a beginner like me. The views are simply spectacular, we couldn't get over how beautiful it was. Riding horseback is the perfect... More
