Amazing
Jan 2021 • Friends
This lovely short trekking leads you to Garganta del Diablo.
A nice waterfall at the end of a nice path full of colours and tiny stream.
Cactus and blue sky were my guides.
In January in this part of Jujuy you will be able to be in T shirt and put a sweatshirt by night.
Is a really easy and nice trekking to do.
It will take you half and hour/ 45 minutes if you make it fast.

Easy walk from Car Park at top
Dec 2019 • Couples
Not a great amount of water flowing but the walk was easy; may need shoes that can get wet if you go in rainier times as you have to crisscross a bit. The drive up to the car park afforded us spectacular views of Tilcara, the valley and surrounding mountains. 50ARS each person.

Awesome hike next to a small river
Sep 2019
We left Tilcara with the car and took the road to Garganta del Diablo. Some say you can walk but I recommend taking the car and enjoy the road with many curbs to get to the parking place close to La Garganta. You need to walk down a bit in order to see the garganta. Also you can walk upstream in a small river that takes you to a natural small waterfall. We really enjoy the hike and jumping from one side to the other of the stream.

Amazing hidden place

This waterfall is very charming! You can go from Tilcara either by car or walking, personally, walking is the best option. The views are amazing and the experience unique!

Small waterfall, not much else
Jun 2019 • Solo
It's a nice place to visit when in Tilcara, but I would go crazy over it. You drive about half an hour through a narrow (mostly single lane), twisty and uphill road up the side of a mountain, then park and walk for about 20 minutes to get to the waterfall.
It's a nice place but it's nothing too crazy, if you are short of time you are better of visiting some other places (the Pucara, Hill of Seven Colors or even better, the Hornocal)

Nice walk for kids
Apr 2019 • Family
Having read another review by a family with young children we decided to drive up to the kiosk entry instead of walking. The road is quite rough and mostly single lane. The steep parts are not for a faint hearted driver, but fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. We all enjoyed the walk to the waterfall, the kids liked the small challenge of criss crossing the stream. Bring water and snacks. There is a water toilet on the road down from the kiosk entry point.

Not exactly what you think
Nov 2018
We parked at the edge of town and hiked up a hot dusty path (to be expected since we started a bit late). At about 3.8 km, you hit the road that othesr use to drive to the same spot. Then at 4 km, there is a small entrance fee kiosk because the site is owned by indigenous people who promote it for tourism. Then you walk down a steep, short path to a lookout over a very narrow canyon--the devil's throat. If you've never see a deep narrow chasm, maybe it would be unique. Then you walk about 15 minutes along a stream to a small waterfall. And back up the steep, short path.
Since other hiking in the area seems to need a guide (no maps, no signs, no real trails), this is a good option for a self-directed trip.

A nice small waterfall
Aug 2018 • Family
The walk is nice and short if you reach the parking by car, otherwise you can walk up by 4 km from Tilcara (mostly through a separate pathway). The troath is short and not very impressive, while the small waterfall at the end of the pathway is nice.

Good short walk
May 2018 • Couples
The walk leaves from Tilcara town and is sign posted from Puente Tilcara and Av Huasamaya. The sign says 4km, think it may be a little shorter. Track is well formed and has signs at junctions. A small place sells drinks on the way up. The canyon is impressive, worth the walk and the 30 pesos entry. Walked up to the waterfall as well which was better than we thought it might be given the small water volume. A must do in Tilcara.
