This was very disappointing .. Only if the Pucara de Tilcara was left as it was found instead of being rebuilt. The pyramid on top is not authentic & is a memorial paying homage to few archeologists. The only good thing is the view on...More

For a small fee you can wander around the old ruins, town square and ancient dwellings. There is a gradual climb to the top, where you will find a rather strange modern building. The view here is superb. There are some huge old Cacti interspersed...More

Place to get closer to our beginnings. You can also visit nearby a high garden with Autochthonous flora.

Littlebit of a climb to the top. The ruins are interestingand information was both in Spanisn and English. We loved the small cactus garden. The monumnets were less impressive.

We enquired in the local tourist office about visiting this attraction and we were advised that it is now closed together with the small adjacent cactus garden. I was unable to ascertain whether or not the closure was permanent.

The walk from town is not so far and this was a nice place to wander around exploring the old ruins. Just make sure that you have your sunscreen on, when the suns out :) Visited October 2015

Tilcara is a great little town with own simple identity. Adobe dwellings, Andean people, beautiful setting. You must visit.
