I loved this museum and bone yard. Great ships, great busts, great dioramas. One of us learned how to tie a knot. A lot of artifacts, lots to see and learn. All the bells were tempting, but we successfully resisted. Definitely visit while in Tigre!

Great ship models! Well-kept. No heating in winter. Lots of naval history to learn for all ages. Really worth going.

Very interesting museum

Aside from visiting the Tigre delta, this is the other must-do activity in Tigre. The fascinating museum covers the history of the navy from its founding right through the Malvinas war through photos, models and artefacts.

Displays are only in Spanish but there's plenty to please you visually, regardless of your ability.

Really interesting little museum

Fantastic value at 20 pesos I spent a very happy hour and a half in here (might have been a bit less if it hadn't taken my weak Spanish so long to decipher the information signs).
The physical layout is a bit confusing but it covers the whole of South America's naval history, from pirates to trade ships, to luxury liners, to warships (including a model of the Belgrano, of particular relevance to a Brit. And even my Spanish worked out that the sign was telling me the Belgrano was sailing away from the exclusion zone when it was sunk).
There are some wonderful models - especially of cabins on the liners - and lots of paintings and memorabilia.
Outside there's an impressive array of naval weaponry, and part of the bridge from another ship damaged in the war of the southa atlantic
Well worth a visit

Interesting but no English translations

I was interested to have a look in the museum, but since there were no English translations, decided to give it a miss.
The entrance fees was AR$ 20.

Charming pile of naval history
Dec 2015 • Solo
The naval museum is a charming collection of bits and pieces from Argentina's naval history. As I'm most interested in steel ships, I was impressed by the two large scale models of the two dreadnoughts Argentina once owned. Also, finally seeing Vito Dumas' LEHG II was an emotional moment for me although since her restauration, she probably looks better than she ever did during her service life.
Getting there is not straightforward to find out, so that's information I want to share: take the subway to Retiro (terminal of the blue line, if I'm not mistaken). There, take the Retiro-Tigre line of the FCG Mitre train network, all the way to Tigre terminal. Step out and take the bridge over the Rio Tigre, walk for about fifteen minutes with the water on your right hand side. Once you've crossed the street named after Vito Dumas, you are nearly there.

More than I expected
Dec 2015 • Solo
This is a great museum. I just wish I spoke Spanish or explanations were in English. The museum has many artifacts, and some very interesting ones indeed. I specially like the area dedicated to more modern history - - after the sailing ships.

My favorite exhibit, oddly, was the miniature recreations of bathrooms and living spaces aboard ships. These recreations were so authentic that when photographed you could not tell them apart from full scale models. The detail was outstanding.

This is a relatively inexpensive museum, so even if you don't read Spanish you'll still find the museum interesting.

Interesting day, must say!

A review of the museum including much more, including the town! I stopped by, the museum, following an excellent lunch down the street. The staff at the museum was very courteous and helpful, as the young people spoke English. The Restaurant, Villa Julia, is a short walk, in a historic building on the corner, So, a museum, a lunch and a walk at the waterfront. This was offered as part of the San Isidro and Tigre Tour, recommended by my hotel.. The tour guide was Florancia., who was knowledgable, spoke excellent English and very personable. She really wanted you to enjoy yourself. The last stop was at the Puento Fruitos, along the waterfront, an area being developed. There were restaurants, flower and fruit markets and rest rooms. What a delightful and full day. Drop off and pick up at your hotel! You get value for your money and will make some nice memories.
