Great fun and free entrance to Tattersalls so you can see the horses in the paddock before having a punt. At least some of the ladies in the Tote booth have at least a smattering of English and you can place bets as low as 10 pesos while watching the odds changing. Lots of friendly help from other punters and... More

The Palermo Hipodromo is a large, beautifully maintained thoroughbred race track. While admission to the grandstand is free, for just 25 pesos (less than $2 U.S.) you can watch the races from the Tribuna Oficial, a historic three-story building located next to the finish line and the winner's circle. The Tribuna Oficial has a large full-service bar and restaurant with... More

Check the calendar online for the races. You can enter for free and see the races while sitting in or outside of the beautiful historical building. Very impressing!

The building itself is beautiful and in line with the elitist sport and the smart people who attend the races. There are regular gastronomic shows and open-door occasional exhibitions as well as outlets of famous brands. You can get close to the horses and the jockeys who let the crowds get near and caress their animals.

We arrived at 4 pm (races start at 1pm) on Wednesdays and Friday, but check the calendar on their website. There's an outside and also an inside area (free entry) where you can choose from a limited menu and also place bets on horses. There's also a VIP area with a casino but they request formal wear and an entry... More

We live in Naples, FL and wanted to show something to our kids that they would never see in our hometown. The old French style building is still as beautiful as I imagine it was 60 years ago. I strongly suggest you go on-line and you call to confirm whether they have races the day you want to go and... More

Not much to see the moment we chose to visit but the architecture of the building is impressive. Large racetrack. We wandered down to The Palace where Designer Outlet was opening. Not of interest compared to European outlets but at least you have a view of racetrack from the back.

If you are a lover of horse races, you will love the Hippodrome. I hate waiting a long time between races, and are easy bored, There is an outdoor section which is a restaurant, which served middle of the line food. Nothing to write home about, especially being bored by the long waits. I will not return!

Worth a look, great architecture and the racing track is huge and very famous. It's opposite the Polo centre and there is plenty more to see on that road. A huge pokie area as well for those that need a fix.....

Neighbourhood Profile
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.
