The area
Neighbourhood: Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.

The Real Deal...
Apr 2017 • Friends
As a travel buff and yoga fanatic/teacher I am always trying to get in a few yoga classes when I am abroad. Most places have either good teachers/staff, a good shala, or a good location but have not seen any with all three. ( aside from my home studio in Jakarta and its sister in Bali)... Till I went to The Centro De Yoga and Meditation/Vida Natural.

Its in a converted house, a full three stories of house! The reception, changing and casual area is on the ground floor, there are two yoga rooms complete with solid wood flooring on the second, and the top floor is one huge room. This room is very open with huge windows on both sides and is impressive as it is fully kitted out for Iyengar yoga. They also teach astanga, vinyasa, hatha and kids yoga along with quite a few meditation classes and also it seems a lot of workshops.

What really warmed my heart were the people,, the teacher I had was Sol for the Iyengar class', and the staff who work there Sonia, Agustina and Florencia are all very kind and just good people!!!

Admittedly their English was either average or they just were out of practice or maybe a bit shy, but I was in a Spanish speaking country. Most likely if you have made it all the way to Argentina you already have some Spanish skills which will be enough,, and you can always do what I did,, with Sols permission,, to look at and copy the other students. Having said that, Sol seemed to be everywhere to adjust each of the 10 or so students and made each feel like they were in a private class.

The cost for a drop in is around 250 pesos or 21 USD, which for a big city is reasonable. My guess tho is they barely break even given the huge investment they put into the place..

but you know what,, they don't do it for the money,, they do it because they want to,, thats their magic!!

Real disappointment.
Having stumbled upon Vida Natural the previous day and having found the ambience very inviting and having picked up their brochure, I booked an Ayurveda massage through my hotel. What a disappointment and what a rip-off (no value for money). The massage was not really a massage at all, and nowhere near to what it was described as on their brochure. Essential oils are meant to be used throughout, and only a base oil was used. Furthermore it was advertised as being an hour, and it wasn't even 40 min long. And that entailed more heavy breathing from the masseuse than anything else. I have been for many ayurvedic massages in the past, and this was really an excuse for one. And then the masseuse still tried to convince me that she needed to see me again in two days time, to complete her job..........do they think we are stupid??
